Interesting and I certainly agree with you.
It's even more interesting because I believe that hyenas are split into two groups. Females with females so there will be an alpha female leading them and a male group with the alpha male. (I think/hope I remembered that correctly
).
After watching the movie again, I actually quite like Banzai.
He probably may not be the alpha male, but he has some witty responses even if I don't think he is that intelligent (compared to Shenzi). From his lines during the scene at Priderock under Scar's reign, I think he (along with Shenzi of course) have realised the depth of the ruin that had been inflicted upon the Pridelands. After all, there is no food, water and both feel that things are worse under Scar than they were under Mufasa.

Shenzi she's smart and her hyeana style is wonderful but all of them are the same.
