The fact that Simba and Nala are siblings/cousins would <not> necessarily be added to the movie. In fact, I think that it's much more likely for the developers to have left that unseemly (from our point of view) detail out. It doesn't add anything to the story, and only serves to turn an audience off. A better conclusion is that Scar or Mufasa is the father, and that this was pointedly ignored in the movie. Which is what the director confirmed in the interview.
I don't agree with that. Because, first of all, this is a Disney movie, therefore incest can be automatically excluded. And on the other side, yes, they ignored the matter to fir all the screen time in, but it's not due to the fact that they didn't pay attention to the detail that Simba and Nala were cousins/siblings but to the fact that they couldn't be bothered to introduce another character as Nala's father. Nala is not so much in the spotlight that it would be necessary to do so, we barely even know anything about Sarafina.
And another fact that backs this theory up is the fact that Kovu isn't Scar's son. It's not directly connected, but if you look at it,it's basically the same issue with involved incest. However, this time, since it was much more vital to the story,a few lines were dropped telling that Scar isn't Kovu father. Now when you look at this, you know that in the TLK universe, incest is not present, because if it was,Kovu would have remained Scar's son.
And neither Scar nor Mufasa never spoke a single word to neither Sarafina nor Nala.
