Oh boy. Where do I begin with this?
1. Disney is done with the Lion King franchise. Done, finished, completed, there is no more. I actually think 1.5 was a step backward. But that's OK because it was funny and it did score very well with the younger audience. It didn't do the old fans any good, but then again, that's what happens when Disney tries to milk a franchise to death.
2. How do know that it would suck? There's no guarantee that Disney would choose 3D style computer generated Lion King. I think they have a little more respect for the classics than that. And besides, Disney has proven that they can make quality CG films over the years even without Pixar's help.
3. Why would you guys want another Lion King movie!? A sequel or a prequel, it doesn't matter. It boggles my mind why you all would want that, and here's why: The RP section and Fan Fictions, even Fan Art allows everyone to express how they feel about what would happen next in the story and where our beloved characters would go next. So why would you want that to be taken away from you? OK, yeah you could edit the story to make it any way you liked it, but then again that wouldn't be a good thing. If we actually had to edit the story in our own fandom, then what would have been the point in making a 4th movie in the first place?
4. Don't you think everyone who loves a movie wants to see more of it? As for me, I'd kinda like a little more information on Basil's history. How he became so smart, why he was so obsessed with catching Ratigan, and why he chose his line of work. I'd like to know more about Aladdin's childhood, and Mulan's for that matter. And there's a ton of questions I have for the villains of cinema. But those are questions that are never going to be answered. I guess what I'm trying to say is, leave the little details to the fans so they can decide for themselves.
I bring this statement to a close by saying, The Lion King 4 does exist. It exists in our minds, in our hearts. It doesn't have a special release, because it doesn't need one. The franchise is over, but as long as you, the fans, are willing to stay loyal to the franchise, then it will never end. And why worry about something that will never happen anyways? Let the animators rest guys, they did their best and I don't think it's very fair to ask more of them than they can deliver.
And on that note... I rest my case.
