The next sequel - will it be any good?

Based on Toy Story 3's success, might TLK 4 be as good as TLK/TLK2/TLK 1 1/2?

Absolutely!

While I'd be interested in a TLK 4...I would be extremely skeptical if they did decide to come out and make it.

The reason for this...the sheer popularity of the Lion King movies...most movie series that end of popular become cash-cows for the companies that make them...and the sequels are just mindless, lazy pices of tripe designed to rake in millions of dollars from mindless fans.

I would be seriously surprised is TLK 4...if it is ever made...managed to break this tradition. I just don't see Disney actually bothering to make a really good film out a 4th LK movie when they could get away with making a total dud and still make a bucketload of money.

A new TLK film is not excactly inevitable, it's more a case that they either make one or not. I do think though, that with all the rumours going around of a 3D re-release, the Blu-Ray (Although that one actualy will happen) and a new film that if Disney were to catch any of these then they might get the idea that enough people would watch it. and hey, I never thought i'd see a Toy Story 3 ( I know it's Pixar but my point stands, companies do this kind of stuff). The only foreseeable problems with a new TLK film at this stage is in terms of sales, by that I mean that people who watched it as kids are now older and have jobs, are at college, in a relationship or whatever it is. so they either would hope that older fans would be willing to set aside their dignity for a while to go watch it, or that they can make it as much as a smash hit as the original was all over again (which is pretty unlikely in any case).

And do I think it will be good? Well that depends for alot of people, some have different standards and define it differently. I think for us, the fact of seeing an all new Lion King film in the cinemas or on DVD whatever will give us a false sense that the film is awesome even if it is not, and as long as you like it, that's the most important thing. But I would like to hope they do the films (well the first 2 anyway) some justice and make it at least good, it's never going to beat the original though.

aslong as they think about it and take time and treat as bringing out a first film they could do a good job. but if they think oh so easy money here lets rush it and rake in the cash then itll suck so depends how they treat it in my oppionion

Hey SC did Disney say anything about a 4th TLK? I wish they'll make one
Sometimes I simply sit down and write because I cannot help it. Who knows, perhaps one day something will come out of it. Writing is the only thing that, when I do it, I don't feel I should be doing something else.

I always had been hearing rumors of a new making of a 4th Lion King movie, and even if the rumors are true, I have some belive that it could work but also it could become a fail, most of the time because in this days, Disney is kind of more focusing in what is now the Pop Culture and making more movies that are life action than cartoon animation

If TLK4 ever comes out, just know that I would really like to see it right away. I think it'd be interesting, but it just won't be as good as the other three, probably.

Hmm, I'm almost certain this thread already exists somewhere but meh, I think any new TLK movie would be awesome. ^^ As long as it's traditionally hand-drawn animation and as many of the original voice talents reprise their roles as possible. :) I personally don't think it's going to happen though and I haven't heard any rumors myself. I do however, think that maybe Disney is testing the waters with the re-release of TLK in 3D though, so if that happens to go over well, then maybe the chances of a new TLK movie being released will increase slightly but we'll just have to wait and see now won't we? ^^

As sorry as I am to say it, I think that a lot, if not all, of the characters we love should have very limited appearances, if at all, in a hypothetical next movie. Some of the actors are just outgrowing the roles, or else have passed on :\ and I'd rather grow to love a new crew than see my vision of the characters spoiled in any way.

Good point, Mike. Nothing worse than awful renditions of formerly great characters. Usually those are caused by the use of a different or drastically-changed voice actor - in my opinion, anyway.
