As far as I know it didn't flop completely, it's still a pretty popular sequel (no wonder, compared to most other Disney sequels it's actually quite good lol) but it wasn't as big a hit as they'd thought it would.
Yeah, I know TLK was waay more popular.
Sorry, I meant it didn't even make it to cinema, so wasn't anywhere near as successful as the original lion king ;)
It's true it didn't make it to Cinema, does it have to do anything with its commercial success?

they definately should do another TLK movie. and this time, they should include humans. I think now there have been evil lions and hyena's, they should make human poachers/hunters the main antagonists.

^I'm sorry Nicholas, but I think adding humans in TLK universe would ruin the series. The characters themselves are supposed to represent humans.

Now, about the topic, I'm that crazy enough as a fan to want another Lion King movie. The Lion King 1½ is not how I want to say goodbye to my favorite characters. Also, it's never too late to make another film to an established franchise. Hollywood does this all the time. For example, in 2010, Pixar released Toy Story 3 more than a decade ago after they released Toy Story 2. That same year, Disney made a sequel to Tron, which was released in 1982.

The only problems are coming up with a compelling storyline, and Disney's bad reputation with making sequels to their classic films. To solve the storyline problem, just either adapt a Shakespearean story as TLK movies were inspired by his works that can fit all the characters, and give them an importance in the story or simply make a prequel.

I see... but wouldn't it be cool to find out how the TLK characters would've interacted with all sorts of humans?

I'm not convinced the addition of humans to a sequel would do much for TLK, but I thought TLK 1 1/2 was a better offering than Simba's Pride. SP, I thought, was a sequel aimed at kids, with nothing much for the TLK fan who had grown up a bit since the original (just my opinion!) but TLK 1 1/2 reminded me more of Shrek with more humour aimed over the top of childrens' heads a bit.

I think if anything else were to come out of DisneyCorp in a Lion King style, they'd do well to actually come up with a decent original story, rather than to cash in on its predecessors' popularity.

I agree. Sequels that come out several years after the first or second film are usually good. When do it at a closer date, you can tell that the storyline was sped through. It was merchendise. LK 1 1/2 was a let down for me mainly because I am fed up with Timon and Pumbaa.

TLK 2 > TLK homies
And yeah I would like to see a new movie actually.
so what if they DO make a new one and it sucks more than Henry the Hoover? You do not loose anything by watching it besides a couple of hours of life that you will never get back. I do not see how one film can taint the originals, how does one film being bad have any impact on the others in the series? I thought TLK 3 was the absolute worst abomination of a film it has ever been my misfortune to watch, but I still love TLK 2 and 1 =/
