I just tend to ignore political stuff. I don't even vote.
I think I lead a much happier life because of it ^^

However, it does mean I can't contribute to threads like this :\ which is a shame.
Personally, I just think it's a kids movie, so you can enjoy it as a child, without thinking of these things, but as an adult, you can discuss politics and wonder if Scar ever 'did' things with Nala or the other lionesses and if Kopa (Kiara?) was conceived in the Jungle.
Though, really, I just like to watch the amazing animation and think about the talent and great things that were put into the movie and how fantastic it made millions of people ^^

Well, gosh. That was a little rude.
My post was much more constructive than yours.

And to keep THIS post more ontopic...
I think that if you really think about it deeply, TLK seems more like old English times, than recent politics.
Mudering, cheating, running away...over throwing the throne with brute strength and cunning plans, rather than sitting around, talking and taking votes etc. Then again, it IS based on Hamlet.

Possibly inconsequential detail: The creators said that they didn't notice the hamlet associations until halfway through making it, then decided to run with it from what I understand ^.^

I've also heard theories linking Scar to Islam, gays, and the elite british society. Point is, there are too many interpretations, that are really all on the eye of the beholder, to draw a message from the film and declare that this is what the movie intended.

I personally think that many people interpet things in different ways. Usually if Disney wanted to say something, they would use a more direct approach as seen in Alice in Wonderland. To me, I see Lion King as a movie purely directed toward children and meant to be seen in good context, not trying to criticize the poor in power by portraying the hyenas as "black". The movie is in Africa btw :P. And I do think that Annie is right in saying that it is much like old english politics where people would kill others in order to get the throne. It happened all the time. And I think that the hyenas were portrayed as Nazis in the "Be Prepared" sequence to merely show Scar's cruel dictator-like qualities and pure power over them. I honestly dont think that The Lion King was made in order to scold any type of government.
