Lions or Lionesess???????

I watched lion king 2 recently and i noticed that when Zazu tells Simba about Zira attacking he said "I'll gather the lionesses"????? Does that mean that all the lions in his Pride are girls???????? (not counting Simba and Kovu)

Well yeah. A typical lion pride is made up of one or two dominant males, cubs, and several females. Male lions are excluded from their maternal pride when they reach maturity.

you have not noticed on how many lionesses their was? The Lionesses are mostly everything to a Pride. and just like Amanda said.

Since Simba has no canon brothers, the pride would have been made up of lionesses. Now, whilst some comics have introduced male cubs that are Simba's friends such as; Chumvi, Tojo and Malka) the comic producers and the movie producers are not the same. *hence another reason why Kopa wasn't involved in the movies.

A pride of lions mostly consists of generations of lionesses (thus they are mainly related to each other). When a lion leaves his maternal pride, he usually joins up with other young males from the pride (mostly those who are brothers and cousins). They form male groups that hunt and take over another pride together.

You shouldn't feel stupid.

To tell you the truth, I rather believe that if the comic characters and canon verse co-existed together then (I hope that) maybe Simba would have allowed them to stay within the Pridelands. So you never know, Simba could have only been ordering Zazu to just gather the Lionesses as Chumvi and Tojo could have already been waiting.

(I prefer that view anyway.)

Don't feel bad, its not like everyone knows how a pride works. It's not common knowledge unless you actually have studied lions or watched animal planet in some way.

Yeah, DarkLiger is right, don't feel embarrassed because of that.

I for example only know because I am quite interested (okay, I'm obsessed:P) with lions, they are my favourite animal.

However, if you still feel embarrassed perhaps you could do some online research (Wiki) or go to your local zoo.
