The Jungle was THAT close?

The Jungle was THAT close?

Postby Misiziri » May 20th, 2011, 12:10 am

In TLK 1 1/2, after Timone and Pumbaa are chased by wildabeests, they plummet down a waterfall and wake up later, turn their heads and there's the jungle.

Does anyone think the jungle was really that close to the kingdom?

It's TLK 1.5. The waterfall and jungle were placed there solely for the comedy, not the realism that TLK 1 had.

That's what i thought. :dreamy:

Perhaps I'll just say they were carried down the river a long ways and didn't drown; it's Disney and those are the comic-relief characters, lmao.

Well actually, there's no continuity error here. It's still daytime when they fall from the waterfall, and we see them come out of the water at night. So asides from the impact, the current must've taken them down some ways from the waterfall, before they surfaced next to the jungle.

So the realism (like you were saying), is there.

Well, in TLK 1.5, the waterfall, or at least, a waterfall simply sprang suddenly from next to the gorge. That kind of geography gets disqualified at the first day of any reasonable science classes, and that specific water fall is just there for comedic effect.

Plus, isn't that waterfall leading straight into the desert that Simba ran off to? On one end of the gorge is where the stampede started, and the other is where the stampede thinned out. It's also where the 1.5 waterfall should have been at, as well as the desert where the hyenas chased Simba off to.

^Well, in the first movie, the wildebeest herd are seen grazing in a field of fresh green grass, which makes me believe there is a water resource somewhere to maintain the grass to look healthy.

Actually, I tend to believe 1.5 waterfall is where the hyenas found the wildebeest herd, and where the stampede started from. Remember, after Timon and Pumbaa fall into the stream of the waterfall, you can see the wildebeests grazing in the background which leads me to believe that's where Simba's stampede started from. Here's a screenshot below to prove my point:

As for the "revived" topic, not necessarily. Timon and Pumbaa must have traveled a distance depending on where the current of the plunge pool pushed them. Where exactly that direction took them is unknown.
