Do you think of the characters as actually speaking?

I think, for sure, they are speaking to eachother. As someone mentioned, there are no humans in the story, so it's not that important. If humans were included, that would be different for sure.

I believe that, in reality, animals DO understand eachother's speaking, so why not in the movie? And, the audience must understand it as well. Try watching TLK with sound off . Or any movie. Or just with subtitles. It's not the same, right? So, basically, they understand eachother, you can hear them, but it's much more likely that it's "lionish" what they are speaking, and if (hypotetically) you met those in real life, you wouldn't understand a word.

On the other hand, story is human based, but still, the characters are animals. They are no humans. And can't be watched as humans. They are much better than that

And, in many Disney movies where animals appear together with humans, we can hear the animals but human characters can't.

I still strongly think that these characters Are people. Just in a non-human physical form. And besides, I don't see anything wrong with animal characters being almost or completely humanized. They are who they are. Not by what they look like.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I like the fact Timon is a meerkat. But this is nowhere near the reason why I like him a lot. I make eye contact with him whenever he speaks in the TLK movies and such, think about what he says and the emotion he expresses. So no. He's not even close to just being about laughter, jokes, or remarks. I've already seen this many, many times from him.
