I remember seeing this around 2001 I think. To be honest, I was less than thrilled with it, even though it wasn't a bad production. Mickey's Philharmagic is really great though.
I agree. Mickey's Philharmagic is one of the best things in Disneyworld. The 3D is awesome, and that's coming from someone that doesn't even care about 3D. Actually, the Lion King is one of the Disney songs that Donalds poofs himself in. If you don't know what I mean,
take a look at the plot.
The Legend of the Lion King was supposed to be good. Here's some more information about the production; it was published back when the show premiered.
[quote="June 24, 1994 edition of the Orlando Sentinel (

The Legend of the Lion King premieres July 8 at the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland Theater, using complicated puppets and a 125-foot wide set to add a third dimension to Disney's latest animated release.
"In an eight-minute introduction and 16-minute performance, the show covers the movie's high points", said director Fran Soeder, a Broadway veteran. Puppets - some 8 feet long and 6 feet tall - were designed especially for the show. The adult Simba takes a crew of eight to operate from a pit beneath the stage. "This is the far side of Kukla, Fran and Ollie," Soeder said. "We refer to these puppets as articulated creatures."
The show combines music, animation, special effects and hydraulic set pieces, such as an 18-foot-tall rock that rises from the stage. Soeder directed the Voyage of the Little Mermaid attraction at Disney-MGM Studios with a similar combination of theatrical elements.
But The Legend of the Lion King is more sophisticated, using throughout the show a combination of live action and animation that was the finale of Little Mermaid.
"Where we stopped with Mermaid, we picked up with Lion King," Soeder said. "It was our intention to challenge ourselves, not repeat ourselves." This is not Soeder's first experience with special-effects-laden productions. He directed former gymnast Cathy Rigby in a Tony-nominated revival of Peter Pan. But opening night on Broadway was never like this.
On opening day, The Legend of the Lion King is scheduled for 42 shows.
