Was Scar Loved?

I think Scar got the kind of love he needed as a cub, but not the kind he wanted, and in his persuit and disregard for the love he needed, he lost it... and only realised when it was finally gone completely (when he was king).

Yeah,

Scar wanted power. Not love.

I don't regard A Tale Of Two Brothers as it's its author's original story and the author was not one of Scar's creators so his vision is just his vision and nothing more. I'd like to think Scar was loved but either they failed in showing it enough or Scar was born emotionally incapable somehow. You know, a little like autistic children but nowhere near that extreme case.

I understand the book universe is not as appliable to the film universe as the canon filmmakers had no part in writing those stories. But, most fans (myself included) accept the story as official since there's no other Lion King media approved or made by Disney at this time that contradicts this story.

As for Scar being loved, well, everybody else made excellent points with Ahadi, Uru, Mufasa, and Zira loving him. However, I believe he loved himself by the time he was an adult since he feels he's so intellectual. If you listen to him singing "Be Prepared", Scar says, "...Decades of denial is simply why I'll be king undisputed, respected, saluted, and seen for the wonder I am!" So, I think it's fair to call Scar a narcassist.
