(Scrawny frame, dark eye patches and small irises.) And whether it may be true or not it was even on a Disney site that explains the story more and possibly fills some plot holes.

It’s here that Kiara meets the mischievous Kovu, a young cub who, unbeknownst to her, is Scar’s nephew. Before his demise, Scar told his sister Zira that he wanted Kovu to be raised as his chosen successor to the throne. After Simba banished Zira, Scar’s sister-in-law Serabi and Scar’s other followers to the Outlands at the end of The Lion King, Zira dedicated herself to training Kovu for his historic role. In order to walk in Scar’s paw prints, he would need to defeat Simba and take over the animal kingdom.
This really gets me thinking about the characters relations to each other.. Zira being Scar's sister and therefore making her son Kovu Scar's nephew. It would make sense. But what I can't wrap my mind around is how Simba exiled his own mother who is 'apparently' Scar's follower.. but I suppose in some twisted 'bent' way it could work.. maybe Sarabi mated Scar and had Nuka.. But anyway, i like that for the first time there's finally an 'official' statement about Zira and Scar's relationship. How 'non canon' it may be.. I thought it was rather interesting.

Really? That's a shame.
I actually liked that theory. But the 'exiling' part doesn't really make sense so I guess it's false.
