I have also been thinking about this for a while but wouldn't it be neat if the Marvel side of Disney started doing comics based on their animated properties? Like, if the lion guard got a comic series that was aimed at a slightly older age than disney jr, like elementary schoolers?
I can't believe I forgot to comment on this.
Back in the early to mid 90's Disney did license there characters to Marvel in attempt to create comics suitable for younger readers. The comic I collected of that attempt was called Disney Comic Hits:
http://marvel.wikia.com/Disney_Comic_Hits_Vol_1 It featured different Disney Characters (Among Them Timon and Pumbaa). I enjoined this series (At Least Until all of stores that sold comics stopped getting it) and I was approaching my 20's at the time.
Now that Disney owns Marvel I could see a Lion Guard comic (aimed at a slightly older audience)having a chance. However I think Disney will wait to see how successful The Series and tie in books are, before trying and slightly aged up comic book.
about Zuri, her name reminds me Zira...
Well if Zuri is indeed the Lioness cub we saw on the book, I hope she has no connection to Zira.
Another thing I thought of is that Disney already has a character named Zuri. Zuri Ross from Jessie.
http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Zuri_Ross Other than both being Disney characters I know there is no connection between them. I just thought it was worth mentioning as Disney tries to avoid using the same name for characters. Although there is a character named Angle in Lady And The Tramp 2: Scamp's Adventure. As well as in Lilo And Stitch: The Series
