Kinda like how people are excited for the new star wars is because han, luke, leia, and chewbacca are returning and being played by their original actors
First of all, I keep hearing people complain about them returning. Second of all, I'm looking forward to it because it's Star Wars, not because of the characters. Just like I'm looking forward to TLG because it is TLK. The characters aren't the only reason.
*shrugs* i've heard the opposite for star wars, but I will admit it's mostly anecdotal.

Ang gothprincesskiara, you should caaaalm down. Worrying won't make the lion guard arrive sooner than expected.

For me The Characters are a Huge part of why I'm excited for The Lion Guard (and Star Wars: The Force Awakens), if The Lion Guard was merely set in The Lion King Universe and had no connection to the characters I love I would be extremely disappointed.

As for Kion being a lion that defies tradition, I think that only applies to his decision to form A Lion Guard that has animals other than lions in it. I doubt Kion will turn his nose up at every tradition, because that would make him a very unlikeable character.

As for when we will get new Lion Guard info, Disney surprised me with that sizzle real. I thought we would not see anything until March. Now it is the last week of April and we still have nothing( aside from the books that were announced). I'm going to say that our next Lion Guard Preview (or something to that effect) will happen in late August. Hopefully Disney will prove me wrong again and show us something before that. (Keep your claws crossed everyone).

What if a part of him defying tradition is getting a mohawk and tattoo? You know, those lions these days and their loud rock and roll music and 'playstation 4's' Back in my day, leonine royalty behaved unless it was tormenting hornbills with their betrothed.

/is mostly joking.

I'm not really worried at this point about the quality. From what I've seen some people who were behind the scenes have said its in good hands, but until we get more content we won't be able to make snap judgements.

Especially since they haven't actually made a show out of an existing property in a while? So there really isn't any precedent.

Although one thing that always comes with such stuff (and especially with something like a full tv series) is that SO MANY HEADCANONS will get slashed.

Can you imagine like 100 years into the future where will the TLK franchise be? Would there ever be a remake? A live-action remake even, considering certain trends? Although unless 2D animation makes a comeback on the big screen I doubt it.

One fun thing I've seen in fanfic after the announcement is to have Kion constantly "patrolling the border" which is hilarious bc I'm probably going to do it too >.<

AnActualLion's Thread on The Betrothal Law got me thinking.

http://www.mylionking.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=45339

While it is obvious that a preschool show will never address this subject, I thought it might make for fun speculation.

Being that Kion is not the heir to the throne, would that not make him a likely candidate to be betrothed to The Crown Princess of another lion pride? I think the emotions and politics involved in such a situation would be a good way to introduce other non hostile lion prides (and characters) into The Lion King Universe. If as previously mentioned The Lion Guard was not a Preschool show. What do the rest of you think?

Who's to say they won't eventually? I'd assume a lion king tv series would have references to the movies every now and then.

Excellent point, I just assumed the only movie references would be the periodic appearances of the characters we know and love.

From what I have read, that seems to be the plan. My understanding is that the show will focus on Kion and his group of animals friends (known as the Lion Guard), and the characters from the original two films will make occasional appearences. Simba may appear in every episode, or only a few spanning the season, f.ex.. but this is just me guessing.

More appearances by Simba would make more sense, as a way of establishing the series. at the start.
