The Lion Guard (2015 / 2016)

It is confirmed they are inspired by the show. The first book is a story book version of Kion assembling The Lion Guard and stuff. So the books literally retell the story (the author is responsible for the story book versions of past Disney movies, including TLK2 I believe).
As I said, we don't know if Roar of the elders will be in the show but given that its in the book, that's all we really have to go on right now. However it should also be noted that Disney described it as "TLK meets The Avengers" so I don't think its really that outlandish.

I wasn't trying to say that The Proud Roar was, or should be cannon, I just thought thought Kion's Roar of the Elders might work in a similar fashion. If that was the case it would enable Kion to go up against threats no cub actually could.

However you are absolutely right that the creative team of The Lion Guard would not turn to a non-canonical source as inspiration for a in-cannon story element. Perhaps a more realistic expectation of what The Roar of the Elders might do is enable the young cub Kion to roar like an adult lion. Although I also would not be surprised if my original theory on what The Roar of the Elders might do turns out to be correct. Sans any actual connection to The Proud Roar from Kingdom Hearts.

Darn, I'm a bit disappointed that Robert Guillaume is not reprising the role. However, I'm familiar with Khary Payton's work since he voiced Cyborg in the Teen Titans series. Hopefully, he doesn't do a straightforward imitation of Robert's voice, but makes the character of Rafiki his own.

Robert guilaume is 87 years old. Makes sense they would pick someone new.

I think the real question is, who is voicing simba? It's doubtful that broderick is coming back, more likely that cam clarke will return.

Ok I can understand that at that age he deserves retirement. But its just not the same with out them, I mean Robert Guilaume's voice is what made of the most important essential elements of the Lion King. Its just not TLK without that voice especial for a loved wise shaman, his voice it was perfect for Rafiki , its going to be hard for this change. But we kinda new this already that most of the TLK voice actors aren't coming back, so we have to accept that and be ready for it, but the voice for Zazu will be the same actor and I think Nala too. But the rest, well we will have to get used to the change, but I just hope they don't screw it up, I hope they get very close voice similarities right. I mean It would just be a broken record of Rafiki didnt have that similar accent in his voice, and of course it makes me worry what they all will sound like but there is a way to get a sample of there voices just look up videos or watch movies the voice actor did.

According to the international movie database zazu is being played by michael gough. While he's no rowen atkinson he's a fairly good replacement.

But it's also imdb which isn't always 100% accurate.
