The Lion Guard (2015 / 2016)
Yeah, The Lion King was a G rated movie... An age rating that meant it was appropriate for a pre k audience but not exclusive to that age range.

In most pr i have seen says that the lion guard is being made for kids 2-7 AND their famiies, meaning they are attempting to make something that can also be enjoyed by an older audience.... Just like the original lion king. How well they succeed at this is up in the air but most of ya'll forget who the primary audience of the lion king was.
TLK wasn't aimed at any specific primary audience, they just set out to make a film that could be enjoyed by all ages. TLG on the other hand has an accompanying book titled "Kion's Animal Alphabet". They also showed test footage to young children so they could get their feedback and make changes that would please them, since young children are their target audience.

I mean, I just think there's a bit of a difference between this - >

And this ->

Just because Dora the Explorer has the same age rating as TLK, doesn't mean there isn't a clear difference between who they are going for.
I'm not blindly hating on TLG, I'm just saying I'm not really bothered about it based on what little has been revealed about it so far. Its not "trolling" nor am I wrong for having this opinion... But to me it just looks garbage thus far.

But hey, if you're looking forward to learning that Z is for zebra or that farting produces gases and gases are damaging the eco system, more power to you.
Its not really the sugar in my tea, though. I'd be willing to try it, I'm just not that excited about it. Is that an okay thing for me to be allowed to say?
but there's a couple that I have to admit aren't too bad, sometimes even enjoyable.
"Not too bad" "Sometimes even enjoyable" are not phrases I want to be using when describing The Lion Guard, though.
I want this to be awesome, really I do. I just don't think it will be, that's all.

1: i never said you were trolling, or blindly hating it. I just think that people should pass judgement after we see some real footage.

2: The original lion king movie had educational books too. Simbas big secret was pretty eye rolling

3: nice condescending attitude there with the 'if you want to learn about zebra farts' bit. I am looking forward to it because i want to see more of characters i care about and maybe even make some new favorites.

4: that lion guard image you linked to was fan made, and was made last august. what the heck was your point in posting it?

People are too easy to pass negative judgement on something that hasn't even aired nor has even got a proper reveal via footage. So far all we have is a 2 second long clip that has no voice acting.

I swear, the accusations i have seen towards this show are almost enough to make me swear off being a part of the lion king fandom. Yes, i am that livid right now.

If you can't take other people's differing opinion without getting angry about it, then maybe that isn't such a terribly bad idea.
I'm not getting upset that you are looking forward to it, more power to you. So why is it such a problem that I am not?

I'm not even going to argue the points you made, I actually happen to respect your opinion and you are entitled to express it, if you're opinion happens to be that you don't like anyone else having an opinion that is different to yours, that's cool too :)

You say you respect my opinion but it doesn't feel like it with the way you put words into my mouth two posts in a row. And your condescending attitude is very insulting.

I never said you couldn't have an opinion, i just think that people should give the show a small chance before saying the things i have heard about it. And by small chance i mean wait until there is proper footage.

Flip, now you are trollin'. You know better than that. :P

I have to say though, that this is something I didn't expect for a long time on MLK now: People getting rather fuzzied up over an on-topic argument. There was a huge Kopa when roughly when I joined, but after that everyone kept saying "TLK is dead!" What are they to say now?

To actually have a proper on-topic reply:

I have a somewhat combined attitude of Flip's realism with optimism. I am still hoping that TLG will end up well, but I won't actually watch it until afterwards when people will say if it's any good or not. If it will end up being bad, then I won't miss out on much. If it will be good, well, I might get spoiled for the first couple of episodes.

BTW, random note: I read that the first episode will be a 1 hour long pilot. That doesn't sound like a basic kid's show to me. So overall, I am more optimistic than skeptical.

I have to take Flip's side here. Sorry, Elton John, but I think you might need to take this down a couple notches.

I don't hate the show, but he brought up a good point. I think from the beginning I have tried to keep somewhat low expectations for this, simply because I don't normally watch Disney Junior and I don't have reason to believe that TLG would be significantly different from any of the other shows that they've aired so far.

HOWEVER. I still plan to watch the first episode just to see if I like it. I'll admit that there's always room for surprises and it may end up being good. Especially since it's based on TLK and I already like those characters and such anyway. At the end of the day, though, I want to try to keep my expectations realistic and see it for what it is. Being overly optimistic about it without seeing any footage is just as unfounded as hating on it without seeing any footage. It's just choice as to what you and other people expect from the show and what you think it will be like. As of now, we have little information aside from sparse visuals and that it's aimed for preschoolers (which, again, makes me skeptical).

It isn't enough to pass judgment on the show yet, but ultimately people should be honest and realistic with their expectations.

EDIT: I was ninja'd twice but yeah, I still agree with Flip and DG.

Okay let's all calm down now, yeah?

Some people are optimistic about the show, others are not, some are flat out pessimistic about it. Let's try not to get too worked up over it.

Yeah that's fine. Like I said though, based on what little has been revealed so far, I'm not liking it. I did say I would try it and I will. ^^
Flip, now you are trollin'. You know better than that
I didn't mean to, its not my fault he got mad over an opinion. You're next on my list, don't worry, yours is coming, son. :P
DISCLAIMER: I'M JOKING!
I have a somewhat combined attitude of Flip's realism
Thank you, somebody gets it. What don't... I mean... I... They just told us they are making a show aimed at preschoolers so my first thought was "Well gee, I'm not a preschooler so I might not like this."
I won't actually watch it until afterwards when people will say if it's any good or not. If it will end up being bad, then I won't miss out on much. If it will be good, well, I might get spoiled for the first couple of episodes.
That's fair enough. That's like reading reviews of a film before you go out and watch it I guess.
I have to take Flip's side here. Sorry, Elton John
LOL sorry just had to point out how funny that line reads on its own. I just got an image in my head of sitting there having a debate with Sir Elton John and someone just comes along and says that :D

But yeah I agree with the rest of your post, you pretty much just said what I was trying to say, except yours wasn't condescending and sarcastic like mine was.
