TLK finally gets the recognition it deserves
Because being one of the highest grossing animated films of all time, if not just films of all time, is definitely not recognition.

Well I will say that being a high grossing film doesn't make you by definition a good movie. There are plenty of good movies that did very poorly, while at the same time, there are major blockbusters that are rather lame.

I also think that The Lion King was overshadowed by many much shorter-lived but higher grossing Pixar and Dreamworks CGI movies.
So I am glad that The Lion King did much better than expected, because it might make executives rethink about their "ban" on traditional animation and good stories.

Precisely.
So just becasue The Lion King did well doesn't make it a good move. It's a good movie because it was made as one, not because it had unlimited cash reserves. If any, it had less. (TLK was the "B" movie with Disney).

This. xINFINTY. :3

We press play, don't press pause.
Progress, march on.
With the veil over our eyes,
we turn our back on the cause.
'Till the day that my uncles can be united by law,
when kids are walking 'round the hallway plagued by pain in their heart.
A world so hateful some would rather die than be who they are.
And a certificate on paper isn't gonna solve it all,
but it's a good place to start.

If we're lucky, they might even re-release it even more times. :)
But that's unlikely.
