The Lion Guard (2015 / 2016)

Re: The Lion Guard (2015 / 2016)
Repeating an earlier post, but I heard someone theorizing that "Kion" is short for "Kiongozi", which is Swahili and means "guide" or "leader". I was a bit skeptical about the name at first, but as I've heard what people have been discovering about it, is seems surprisingly more nuanced than I first thought.
If that turns out to be the case that would be a very interesting name.
Perhaps more thought went into the name than you think. I wasn't to thrilled to hear the name at first but it has quickly grown on me.
Well I'm cheering up now. I'm not the target audience anyway so Kion would make an easy name to remember for the kids :) ...

That is a very good point that I hadn't considered.

I'm hoping that isn't just a birthmark, hopefully the first episode will explain why Kion has that mark.

It's possible that Rafiki may have been given Kion that mark to show that he was the Lion Guard.

I think this sounds awesome, personally, and if I happen to have cable when it premieres I will DEFINITELY be watching.

In regards to it being a preschool/Disney Jr. show... Maybe I'm the odd one out here, but I'm 26, I have no children, and I truly enjoy watching Disney Jr.'s more story-like shows. As long as this is more of a "Sofia the First" sort of show rather than, say, "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse", I think it'll be enjoyable even for older TLK fans.
