Karma Mod!

Yeah, but to be honest, it wouldn't really be that difficult for new members to understand (at least, I don't think it would be to hard.) but that's just my opinion. :) Although, I admit Karma does sound much clearer...but still...

There wouldn't need to look in there if it was clearer, duh. :P But yes, I see your point. I actually thought of that while I was making my previous post..

As far as I can see, the lowest Karma is 0. This means that for the most part, people are not abusing the Karma. Did I see some questionable karma? Yes. But do I dispute it? No. This is because mostly, what I consider questionable might be perfectly reasonable from another's point of view. But it is hard to guess what is "good karma". When everyone have a bit of Karma, it makes gauging hard to do.

But then, do we need a scale to determine what is good karma? I would say that if it's above zero, then it's good karma. And as everyone I see have at least 0, everyone have good karma. As it should be on a TLK fan-site.
Those wouldn't make sense IMO, newbies won't understand what pride/grub/bug points are.. We need a clearer name.. or we should just leave it as it is, not everything needs to be TLK-ized.
Depends on what you mean by "newbies"... newbies on this board doesn't necessarily mean they're new to the internet and forum in general, and there are lots of forum/fanboards out there employing this karma thing, some boards refer to it as "Reputation", others are personalized to the topic of the board (what I suggested), I imagine most people know what this karma/reputation/thing is about.

I think renaming Karma to Pride Points is a cool idea, though it works either way, i think Karma, is a little bit more clear to the new members.

personally i'm in favor of the "Pride Points" idea though

Considering that Karma is a bit weird to begin with: what happens when you have a lot of Karma? Good luck? I also think that renaming it would be a good idea. It can be that having a lot of Pride Points means that you are a contributing member with good quality posts (I know it's the definition of the Karma system, but it isn't the definition of Karma).

Personally, I don't think we have to worry about people not knowing what the Pride Points are. To me it seems pretty straight forward that you can increase or decrease anyone's Pride Points with the two buttons on everyone's posts. With a little digging, I'm sure any curious new member could find out on their own what they are ^^ If not, we're a helpful community and would be glad to help newcomers understand.

So, it looks like renaming it to Pride Points is a great idea.
