So I found this gem a few months ago, and if it's not in the movie then I'm suing someone.

But over all if they say its safe enough to use now, IM SO into checking it out if this is my next step up into what I call escaping reality and jumping into any fantasy worlds that we love, then im going for it!. :D :D :D :D :D
I'd be cautious with your VR set; use it in maybe 20-minute bursts, taking plenty of breaks in between, since it can cause headaches and disorientation. At least start out by doing that, and let your body gradually get used to it :)

As the majority of people have said, this is not going to be a great movie. For several reasons I believe this is true.

I won´t post a why, but I will give you several examples of material "behind the scenes", and let you see why this movie will never capture the essence of the art on the original.
The nostalgia argument goes out of the window in my opinion, they could appeal to that, but i´m pretty sure they´re going to go cheesy and and cheap CGI on this one.

I´ll leave you with an example of how CGI looks could be accomplished, here´s some beautiful digital rendering of Nala made by Aaron Blaise (Young Nala´s animator), just for those who accuse me of hating digital made art :P .

I really wish Disney would spend time on original ideas rather than doing live action of animated classics. The Lion King isn't going to work well in live-action because characters can move and do things in animation they can't in live action with CGI. How hookey does it look to have lions move their paws similar to hands in live action as compared to animation where it's fine? When I first heard of this project, I wanted to cry, "No, why, why ruin a classic movie?" :(

I'm actually growing more comfortable with the idea of a remake - though of course I think it's completely unnecessary - after the first casting decisions have been released, but as far as story goes I think what they'll (and we as an audience) have to do is really embrace the idea of a "reimagining" that they used in the official initial announcement. To what extent both sides in general are willing to do this, I don't know, but now that I've had some time to think about it in more detail - taking a year off from academia gives you this ability - there are a couple ways this could work pretty well on its own merits, at least for me.

The biggest concern seems to be the visual medium - i.e. this isn't going to be 2D hand-drawn pen-and-paper animation, but rather photorealistic CGI - which I do agree takes away from some of the expression and potentially even colorfulness of the characters and their world, but if you look at the original concept art (some of which is linked in the above comments), The Lion King's world and characters were initially planned to look more like the actual animals, complete with a much more limited (and realistic) color palate. Actually, the initial version has a lot of the elements that I'd think would help this newest version succeed on its own, including more realistic interspecies interactions - like hunting scenes and the hierarchy that forms around kills, in addition to the fact that while the lions are still seen as the local rulers by some, they're not exactly treated as warmly as they are in the final versions and the land is less like an anthropomorphic kingdom (the hyenas, notably, aren't actually banished from the Pridelands in the original script, they're just lower on the predatory hierarchy; they kind of act like Makuu and the other crocs in The Lion Guard where they're present in the territory but still generally antagonistic towards the lions) - and a more character-driven script since the songs are more limited and you have less human-relatable expressive possibilities since these are supposed to be anatomically-correct lions. It'll be interesting to see if and how the animators and character designers try to visually distinguish each lion; I actually think we might see more scars and such, as well as possibly making the animals look more unique by employing various genetic pigment mutations, like erythrism to give Simba and Mufasa their golden look: Image

As a final point, I'm thinking they should axe the "Circle of Life" opening altogether. Trying to recreate that note for note, shot for shot, just isn't going to work here. I haven't thought of a really strong alternative, but I think the film will certainly suffer if it tries to remake that scene.

The choreography of the circle of life is almost as important as the song itself. What made the song so grandoise was how it was visually presented. There's a lot of really cool techniques in it not often seen in 2D animation that might not look as good in cgi.

The cinematography in the remake must be top notch. The original has some of the finest use of perspective in an animated film. Sometimes there are shots that look like real camerawork, which I can't imagine being easy to do in a hand drawn film.

With cgi it's easier to do that kind of stuff. With hand drawn it's a technical marvel.

I'm going to be completely honest, I really hate the early tlk concepts. There's a good reason why the film went through so many changes. Most of the early stuff felt so un-disney.
Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves back up again.

I said this many times for TLG and im going to say it again, weather you like it or not, besides money, it's all about out with the old in with the new, new technology, after seeing that Jungle Book won the best visual effects award, whos to say they arnt going to do great with this one, at least give them a chance. For me I have always over looked the animation on the original and always continue to compare it to the real thing, with this remake, I wont have to anymore, I cant wait to see how the characters turn out, I was impressed eith jungle book, but if you loved the new jungle book remake, then im sure we wont be disappointed with this new one, but yet again we dont know what direction they will take it, so in conclusion nothing ever stays the same, things change, the planet is changing, ways of life are changing, movies are changing, besides planet conservation being an important education factor in movies (which Im all about) you should not be always conservative about new ideas and news designs, its better to be open minded and embrace it all, I am differently a picky person, and its good to be picky, other wise you would like too many things but over all im just glade that I go with the flow with new ideas, and I always find a ways to make it work for me, because its|)}

also part of being stubborn ONJ9-;/=']L

There are things i liked about the new Jungle book and things i wasn't as keen on but Yes I did like it. I know I've said some negative things and raised my concerns about TLK remake but thats just me and how i come across. I am actually looking forward to it and seeing how they bring it up to date with modern standards.

Im beginning to think some people are thinking this film is going to be a direct copy of the original word for word, well sorry to burst your bubble (had to go there sorry) but I don't think thats how its going to be. Like in the jungle book the direction is the same and things will be kept the same feel but it will be a different film with things thrown in focus fans to get all nostalgic about. I don't know this but it is what i expect from it after being how they did the jungle book.

Whatever happens it will not have any effect on how much I like the original film, all the characters and everything here.

If the remake is bad-mediocre, we still have the original.

If the remake is good-great, that's definitely not a bad thing :)
