It wasn't pointless at all. That showed that Zira knew more about the Roar than Kion does which was crucial to the episode's plot, and the point of having him do it was to create more water holes so that Zira wouldn't have to share with Jasiri and her family.

I personally I feel Kion and the roar are becoming way too ridiculously overpowered now it can create rain too. If it can make clouds rain then in theory it could make them unleash lightning too. So Kion's roar in theory can cause what are almost typhoons, create earthquakes, create rain, very likely unleash lightning, potentially move mountains, basically split the sea, and can even be used as a concentrated sniper attack to avoid hurting others. How can anyone beat Kion with such an overpowered ability.

Seriously I don't blame Zira for losing so easily Kion could've won the final battles from both movies single handily and he could've done it easily. If there is to be any future tension at all they either have to nerf the roar dramatically, take it away or use it's growing power as a plot point and main struggle for Kion because if they don't there is nothing that can even remotely threaten Kion seriously this single cub is so powerful he might as well be a god.

Personally, I was disappointed they couldn't get Zira and cub Kovu's original VA's back. Also I might be in the minority, but I'd rather have Lion king 2 retconed out. This would give so much creative freedom to the writers.

As for the roar, I agree. It's one thing when Kion used his roar in a smaller scale against Makuu and the crocodiles, it's another thing if it can make clouds and rain. Also Kion should've been aware of Zira's group from the start.

Zira's original VA is kinda dead.

While I agree that this theory could make sense and would make for a great fan fiction, her line didn't imply anything of the sort to me, in large part because of Rafiki repeatedly referring to them as "Zira's family." In explaining Zira to the Guard, she would definitely be taken more seriously and as a bigger threat if she were Scar's mate at any point, and therefore it's not information that Rafiki would withhold from them. His wording very precisely infers that Nuka is not Scar's cub to me, which fits perfectly with Scar's character as shown in the films[/quote]
That's a very good point. I agree. As badly as I want Nuka to be Scar's son, this is a pretty glaring point against it, especially now that we know the Outsiders are nomadic. The only thing I could think of as a reason for Rafiki not to mention that Zira had a cub with Scar, is if the Pridelanders wanted to keep that covered up, but that doesn't seem like something they would do. And as for Nuka having a ton of similarities to Scar, it's not like there wouldn't be other lions out there who shared some similarities with him and also had bad genes.

Wasn't pointless in the slightest. It gave Kion reason to believe Zira knew more than he did. And with the dry season often being pretty brutal in the Pridelands, it's something I can see getting used again.

Sadly, Zira's VA passed away years ago. Cub Kovu's VA would be grown by now and likely wouldn't sound anywhere near the same. Plus, Kovu was supposed to be aged up just a tad here.

And yeah it was strange that Kion didn't know there were lions in the Outlands. My guess is they left the Outlands shortly after the Kiara incident, and Simba no longer deemed them a threat by the time Kion was old enough to go out and play.

Ok for those who dont understand why Simba would not have told Kion about Zira and the outsiders, let me give you a peace of my role play from my Facebook page post here, to make sense of it.
here is what I said befoer
Now I’m sure Rafiki was upset to hear that Kion and the guard ended up having to be told about the outsiders because as Rafiki had no choice now since it was too late after Jasiri came to tell Kion she needed help, either way it was going to happen sooner or later till they would run into and meet with Zira and her outsider pride. So Rafiki realized that he had no choice but to explain to the guard about the story of Zira, in order to say that that if Zira ever met Kion then it could be dangerous hence Zira trying to trick Kion into using the roar for evil to take the guard down.

Now here is how we role played it out on my FB page
Kion feeling upset: Dad! why didnt you tell me about the Outsiders?
Rafiki: Simba, I knew this would happen, it was only a matter of time.
Timon: somebody's in trouble.
Simba having his back turned to kion: oh no.....Kion, did you meet Zira and if so how did you run into her?.
Nala: KIon are you and the guard ok?
Goth Kiara: Omgosh Kion, did you have to use the roar on them? tell us what happened.
Zazu: you should have told them sire.
SImba turned around to face his son: First is the guard ok? did anyone get hurt, what did Zira do to you?
Kion upset with his father: me and the guard are fine no one is hurt, but before I tell you everything that happened, I want you to tell me why you didnt tell us about Zira and the rest of the outsiders.
Simba and Nala looked at each other in guilt realizing this was a bad idea to keep it from them.
Simba: son, we wanted to keep you and the roar safe. But I started to think it was a bad idea and I was going to tell you.

It's possible that Simba, knowing curiosity had gotten the better of both himself and Kiara, didn't want to tempt fate by telling Kion. I mean, when you remember what happened both times someone told a cub "never go there".

Strange that he didn't tell Kion once Kion had the protection of the roar, though. Perhaps Simba didn't want Kion to go looking for lions to fight with.

As stated before, the VA for Zira died :( It's unfortunate as she has a deep, raspy voice which kicks major butt for a villain song and I can imagine the original VA singing this. Awesome. The original VA for cub Kovu would have a deep voice now and not the little boy voice. Kovu is nearly a teen lion so the voice is not too bad here rather than the cub voice. At least it's adult Kovu's original VA.
