Simba wasn't weak as a cub but he was courageous to a near stupid decree he was arrogant but he could put his pride aside Kiara just doesn't like asking others for help and from what I recall at no point in the second movie she did like I said I'm willing to wait to see to quote Simba for now I withhold judgement we'll see what the show really is. I'm actually quite excited just a little concerned.

Animal accuracy is not at the top of my priority list because last I recall i didn't see the clouds form into a face in the sky and last I recall I've never met a lion as charismatic as Scar LOL. So there are already some differences from real animals so it's not a top priority by any means.

See I was so happy when they said it was for education and well for me being into Animal education, accuracy is a must and when you mention how the hyena leader needs to be a female that's a very good point, and I have said this a long time ago, when kids watch thee educational shows, and they see that there isn't a female hyena leader, and then learn later on that females are leaders of hyenas they will be like DISNEY LIED TO ME, which turns them into I HATE DISNEY, now I know where Disney haters and others get that from especially when they say Disney with life and love is not a Disney fairy tale. Filling there head with hopes and dreams becomes a harsh reality for them..........oh god what am i saying :ugh: but again Disney has taken over the world with fame money, money and fame, its it really is like lollipops and rainbows, ok not really but you get what im saying, its all just supposed to help your mind escape from reality itself.

on another note, since I always love watching behind the scenes of any amazing movie or show, Im sure they will have a behind the scenes explanation, and if they dont spend a good enough time for a behind the scenes im gonna be PISSED! :furious2: because that could just be the key to all our questions and confusions. yes behind the scenes is a must!

Just some things I've noticed (which others probably have too, but I haven't seen them brought up here, though they might have been):

- The Lair of the Lion Guard is hidden within Pride Rock. Not sure how I feel about this supposedly being there all this time.
- Kiara dancing along with Kion, Bunga and Pumbaa. She's cut off quickly, though.
- Kiara is watching the hyenas carefully when they get too close to the antelope - I'm guessing this is how she got herself in trouble.
- Bunga's catchphrase is 'Suka zama' (not sure if that's the correct spelling?)

Janja being the leader does seem a bit counter-productive. I'm secretly hoping that at the end Shenzi appears or something to that effect, with Janja being her son. Hey - Cheesier things have happened before, right? :P

Edit for typo-ish mistake.

Thanks for the link to the trailer Elton John.

I'm not sure what I make of it at the moment.... Some things I like, such as Mufasa's original voice actor returning. I hate how they've animated Simba though and his voice is awful... Fair enough, Broderick didn't want to come back, but... eew at least get someone who kinda sounds like him! Kion seems pretty cool though. A very down to earth cubbie and the backgrounds are nice, but.... I dunno.... still not sure if I like it or not x)
Oh, good God. Is that really the best voice they could find to replace Matthew Broderick as Simba? That's not even *close* to Simba's voice. Even I could do better.

Im also not a big fan of Simba's new voice and how they animated him they could've done a much better job casting for Simba. The style of the animation kinda reminds me of the Timon and Pumbaa's wild about safety videos. But looking back at it the animation in the wild about safety videos is way better.
The "tradigital" animation featured in the trailer doesn't look bad considering it is done on computers. I am still nostalgic for the traditional pencil-and-paper drawing, but apparently using computer animation software reduces the costs of animation. The characters appear to have their original designs, and like gothprincesskiara noted, Simba's eyebrows look too thick and his appearance varied in different scenes.
Even for computer animation they could've done better in my opinion. This is not tradigital animation witch means that it was still hand drawn and inked and panted frame by frame. The lion guard is animated using basically digital puppets that the animator can control their mouth, legs, eyes, and position them on backgrounds. Tradigital refers to doing traditional animation on a computer by using a graphics tablet like a Wacom to draw and ink and paint each cell. The Lion King 1.5 and the Lion King 2 were made this way using ToonBoom. The first movie was technically made using an early form of tradigital animation because the cells were drawn by hand on paper and then scanned into a computer where they ink and painted the cells using CAPS (Disney's Computer Animation Production System made by pixar before they were a movie studio) where they also edited in the CGI effects like the wildebeest stampede and the camera angles and then they captured it and edited it together into the movie using this program too (all the 90's disney renaissance movies except the little mermaid were made this way).

He doesn't sound like broderick but he doesn't sound bad.

Unless your criteria for 'bad' is not sounding like broderick. In which case I understand why you feel that way but I can't agree.

To me broderick is an expendable actor in this franchise. He's not like robin williams as genie, peter cullen as optimus prime, or mark hammil as the joker. His voice acting was great in the first movie but I don't believe simba can't do with different interpretations.

And as far as that timon and pumbaa video goes, it does look smoother but not much is actually happening in it. TLG is comprised of faster paced action.
Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves back up again.

I agree that Simba can be recast but why not just get Cam he's been doing a great job. The Lion King has never really been about fast paced action both of the first two movies were character driven dramas or as close as a kid movie can get to that.

Any voice actor can be replaced as good as Hamil is there have been other jokers who did fine same with other Optimus's and the guy who voiced Genie in the show and Kingdom Hearts wasn't bad either.

The animation seems okay but not as good as the movies but that is to be expected.

Looking back on what I wrote, I wasn't too sure if using "tradigital" was the right term to describe the animation; it's more digital 2D animation. As I am already aware, The Lion Guard is being animated in Toon Boom Harmony (which was also used in the sequels as I already know), which also offers tradigital tutorials on its website. By the way, what you are describing of tradigital animation is also applicable to Toon Boom, where the animators on the Goofy short How to Hook Up Your Home Theater and The Princess and the Frog used a Wacom Cintiq tablet for them to animate their characters through a "paperless" technique; some of them still stuck to the traditional pencil-and-paper technique. On a final note, the closing scene of The Little Mermaid was the first notable use of digitally ink-and-painted animated cels through CAPS.

I would say the animation looks like it's 2.5D. 2D, but with some 3D elements you know?

Also, i think that simba's new voice actually suits him. Just think about it for a moment. He's probably a little older now age-wise, so it makes sense that he has this new voice.

I'm gonna have to agree with this media in comparison to Lion Guard animation. Timon definitely looks more like he does from the films in those "Wild About Safety" videos. But I don't think many people in the fandom know about them because they were meant to be simply educational and for little kids. And as far as I know, they're only viewable here on the internet like on YT.

As far as the veteran film character designs go, I agree too that the LG creators could've really done a little better job (especially since the Disney folks seem to really be set on this premiere), and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks they're not too good in these trailers with these few posts I've seen in this topic so far. I'm not bashing the show just to make that clear now to anyone who supports this new show whole-heartedly here. And trying to keep a neutral face on this new series until after the premiere comes out on TV, I really hope the film character personalities make up some for those designs.
Rafiki and Timon seem spot on though Rafiki looks a little different and Pumba didn't look bad either.
Maybe Rafiki is as you wrote and I also notice a closer comparison to him of the film appearances. But as a direct Timon person, I can easily see he almost looks nothing like he does from the films. Here on LG animation / media, his anatomy and facial appearance just looks so basic. Like the creators didn't really care much in making him look good for this show. Either that, or Timon's design was simply rushed. Which I still find strange because of how Pumbaa's looks more connected to that of the films than Timon's.

Timon's personality though, with that quote he says in this trailer, is something I could say has more of an actual connection of him to the films. So I got a lot more hope now on this when the premier comes out, on my fav.
