New episode 'Lions of the outlands'?
Anyone else other than me who WANT to see an episode where Kion is cornered without the rest of the Guard to back him up either by hyenas or outlanders or whatever, where using the roar isn't an option because others might be hurt or something, where Simba must come to the rescue sort of how Mufasa did in TLK 1?
I'm waiting for that to happen, though I don't necessarily expect it. It's usually been the other way around on this show, particularly when they watered down Nala's ferocity in order to have her be saved by Kion. (I'd love to know Simba's thoughts on that whole thing, if he ever found out.) We've only seen Simba step in once, which was during the Kupatana episode, and that was against a relatively minor threat; surely he'd have something to say if he learns of Kion's run-in(s) with Zira.

What bothers me is that Kion - he is a cub. Leader of the Lion Guard, as is his birthright, but still a cub. This, I think, the show should acknowledged more. "Yes, Kion, you are the leader of the Lion Guard, and yes, armed with the Roar, you're the fiercest animal, but you're still learning. You're still a kid, and it's nothing wrong with getting help from grown ups when you are in over your head."

Mufasa helps him with advice. People complain about it because it happens too often but like you said, he's just a kid/cub. He's smart, a good leader, but he still needs help from those wiser than him.

Most of his uh... villains have been pushovers. That's why he doesn't need Simba's help much. Zira is different. She isn't a pushover.

I think having beshte on the team is a bit OP. He's like The Incredible Hulk without the weaknesses of being uncontrollable. Kion is small, fierce, but it's the hippo that is to be feared.

I agree...

Imagine if the Lion Guard, as initially intended by Simba, did in fact consist exclusively of lions, and you have this bulky cub who has an even easier time beating up Janja than Kion has, but then the "Pride Land's strongest" get in a fight with Nuka, who in spite of his reedy build totally dominates him and goes like; "You're just a cub, what did you expect?" :p

That wouldnt have happened. The avengers comparison by ford riley wasn't just for the savannah superhero aspects but for the diversity of the team in more ways than just powers. The reason the show was created.

During an interview ford riley was brainstorming how they could create a tlk show that wasn't a retread of past movies or shows. Well, for better or worse the show isn't a retread.

One aspect of the avengers we haven't really seen in tlg is how the avengers often fight each other. It is seen a bit in the movies, more specifically captain america civil war.

I doubt we will see that aspect in tlg.

I know it wouldn't happen... Because that'd be realistic and cause ACTUAL difficulty for the Guard to think their way out of... Not to mention of course that the whole :p thing I had going on there was a dead give away that I were joking.

I can buy that Kion can actually communicate with Mufasa because of the spiritual aspects of the roar, but the more effective scenes -- or at least the ones I've noticed viewers react to more intensely (in a positive manner) -- usually seem to be those in which Simba and Nala give advice and reassurance; basically when we get to see them actually be parents. Nala herself is such an underused character overall in this franchise, but she seems to be the rock of the nuclear family. Plus, she's voiced by Gabrielle Union here, who is a pretty decently-recognized actor and is probably one of the biggest names the show has; it would do Disney well to use her more in my opinion.

The regular baddies on the show so far have been pretty light fare, although Makuu and Makucha are definitely not pushovers. If it weren't for Beshte and Kion's roar, I'm sure the Guard would've taken some casualties in their encounters. I do hope that there'll be an episode in which the Guard doesn't actually 'win'; I can see any future conflicts with Zira being potential fodder for that kind of storyline.

No way.... Nuka in the show looks like a video game character. I mean... Sure, the show is computer animated, but seriously, what the flying fudge did they do to him? It look like the animation came straight out of the the first Kingdom's Heart, but worse. He doesn't even look finished. They did a decent job on recreating the designs on Zira and Vitani.

What was the big idea? Pretending to themselves nobody noticed if they got sloppy? :despise:

Remember how Nala was uh...rather big until 'never roar again'?

The people who animate on the show will fix it by the next time they are on the show...I hope...

But yeah, his design is terrible and i'm usually apologetic towards the designs on this show. I never liked his design in tlk2 either.

How would you like the character of Nuka to be represented?
