Can't it already be explained by "Zira is crazy and you can't trust what she says"? I mean that's what I always thought, even as a kid watching the movie. I mean she says that Simba killed Scar (which we know isn't true), so why should we believe her that Scar actually hand chose Kovu to replace him? I always assumed she had a crazy hallucination of Scar choosing him or decided that his appearance meant he was chosen... I mean she is crazy after all, watch the way she acts. And her word is all that implies Kovu was born or conceived before Scar's death. It's very llikely imo that she made all of that up, because it's obvious Kovu isn't significantly older than Kiara.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear these characters will make appearances, I quite liked them. And while I know people will in fact ship Kion with Vitani... I still ship 'Tani with Kiara.

Is a seven- or eight-year-old human much bigger than a six-year-old human? It varies from person to person of course, but probably not. I didn't mean Kovu has a full year's worth of time on Kiara; I meant he has a lion year on her, or a few months' worth of time (assuming TLK lions age the same way real-life lions do). Kion and Kiara being littermates creates the plothole of where was Kion during the first half of SP, but Kion being born later clears that issue up (he was too young to go out and play). But of course, that's my trying to tie SP and TLG together, which is a bit of a mess in and of itself

But guys, I think we're all missing something big here...

You guys do realize that he's a REALLY good voice actor right (Jason marsden)? He could probably work around sounding a little younger. He's the original voice actor which is a huge deal. He'll still sound like kovu <3

Does the plot-hole even exist now that we know Kiara has a younger brother, who might as well be Fluffy, the cub at the end of TLK?
I mean, it could go like this. Kovu is a newborn during Scar's reign, and Nala gets pregnant with Kiara during 'Can you feel the Love Tonight.' Since there have been several hints that lions in TLK universe age differently from real-life lions, the age difference between Kovu and Kiara doesn't mean much. Kion is born shortly after Kiara - in my opinion, he could be the cub at the end of the original movie. That means that that scene takes place after Kiara's birth - and Kiara might be somewhere in the cave, with her grandmother, during her brother's presentation.

I have a feeling Disney noticed all the drama, and that this is what they are aiming for. All in all, can't wait to see those lil' guys again. Lion Guard is my favorite thing in a long time. I knew it would be awesome, and thank you, Disney.

^ Well, they said before that "Fluffy" is Kiara, so they'd have to take back what they've said for that to be the case. Even with "fluffy" being Kiara, I can see a way around this supposed plot hole in the ages.

That's what I'm saying, though. Right now, the kind of ideas like what you stated are just mere fanon theories to try and make sense of things and clean up the plot holes, but there's nothing to the suggest otherwise in the official piece of writing itself. There was no actual indication of any lying or delusions or anything like that in the feature, and it's probable that the writers didn't have that in mind. They just wanted to tie things together and add weight to Kovu's whole placement in the story. However, TLG can take the advantage of its return to those characters and implement ideas such as the one you described, canonizing it instead of having it just be some kind of explanation us fans came up with. It's such a great window of opportunity.

"A few months" is already too much for a lion (which is what we have to settle with when it comes to TLKII, which can only be a few months at the earliest). Cubs grow THAT fast. That's why TLKII in itself was a little weird about those two, and would have been potentially weirder had they finished and included that deleted scene showing Nuka and Vitani coming back from Kiara's own presentation, completely blurring the lines of lion aging and human-esque aging even more!

It doesn't really clear much up. It just creates the whole new plot hole of Kiara not being bigger than him. We'd either have to cope with him just randomly being missing or busy, as well as totally neglected at the presentation for whatever messed up reason, OR, we have to deal with a weird lack of a size difference and continue to roll with the vague "they kinda sorta age like lions, but also kinda sorta age like humans" thing.

^Well, one could assume there were two birth presentations - the one at the end of TLK for Kion, and the one in the beginning of SP for Kiara. Though it wouldn't make a ton of sense to have two separate presentations if Kion and Kiara are littermates.
