Kion's Animal Alphabet has a new front image:

You can't see Beshte's mark on this one, but you can see Bunga's. Looks like the marks are only on their left shoulder. Beshte looks a little different in general, though.

I hope these are the designs used in the show. Aside from the silly markings I rather like them.

Also a confirmation that it isn't a birthmark?

I wonder if maybe they're painted on by Rafiki? As a way to symbolise your position as a member of the Lion Guard? I'm really curious about it.

I think that's the most logical option.

I also noticed that Kion and Bunga's marks are the lion head, so that is what I think we can expect in the show.

Looks like Beshte's new mark is no longer blue. It fits with the rest of his colour scheme.

It seems really interesting. It must be a symbol of the guard. When I first saw things about the lion guard, I thought they were thinking of cheap ways of being original or something. But I'm getting excited about. If it's really kiddish I probably won't watch but I may collect some merchandise for the fact it's created from TLK. We'll have to wait and see on how it goes and what is released.

I miss the paw print one, this one is oddly modern?

Reminds me of the way the dragon school logo in the httyd tv show doesn't really mesh well with the overall aesthetic.

Although thankfully this means they probably aren't birthmarks because that would be far too corny.

ok if you read that back of the of the Alphabet book cover it say about Kions gang protecting the animals. um protect them from what? I hope its not just predators cause that's part of the circle of life, Animals need to be protected from poachers mostly not predators cause predators have to eat too. so it makes me wander what they mean by this.

Well from the audition dialogue, which may or may not be real, a group of animals is killing herds for sport.
