How do we get used to all this?

Don't like don't watch *shrugs*. I'm going to give it a watch because I'm intrigued and i want to see if it's something I can show my class :). Some things make me cringe about it but it doesn't mean I don't love the first one.

As people have said, this is meant for preschools and not for older generations. It's aiming to create a fan base. Another example is the new Thomas the Tank. The new ones are awful! But it doesn't mean I don't like the originals :). Same with AOFW. Series 3 is God awful but I still love series 1 and 2 as well as the books.

Seriously dont stress. Just because you don't like a part of the fan base doesn't mean you're no longer a fan.

Well I will say I have always wanted a extended version of TLK and well this is it, cause anything TLK I will grab, because its like well MY LIFE! and I worship it, and I just want more. but I got some other positive advice from someone else from TLKGO and they said
Well, we got TLK I, II, and 1.5. Disney needs to move on to other things and target different audiences, it's how they thrive as a business and that's what it's about. We had our time and enjoyed TLK, now it's time for the next generation to enjoy it. I, for one, appreciate that they're doing anything more to do with the TLK franchise AT ALL, because they don't have to with all the new shows and movies they have. The stylistic choices bring something new and fresh to the board and are easier for new generations of animators to reproduce, and it also gives them a chance to shine with their design skills and such. Also, Mufasa was voiced by James Earl Jones, so he is literally the same voice.
this makes me feel much better actually, and I didn't know Disney would do this, why cant they just stick with radition, its like some parts they keep tradition and some they dont, out with the old in with the new, but why not let the old aniamtors keep there job, because WE LOVE THEM FOR OUR TLK, how else did we get here as a fan community? but I still hate how we are not recognized enough as a fandom, well there is alot of hope and possibilities for this.

There's a lot of new tlk merch still being made considering how it's 21 years old, and we're about to get a whole lot of new merch with tlg.

They know the older fans exist plus they are trying to create new fans too.

There's nothing to do about this but accept the fact that Disney will never touch TLK in a serious, accurate way. Why would they when they can easily make money so much more easily?

Honestly, it's just puzzling to be this fanatically enthusiastic about a Disney movie that came out almost 20 years ago. Calm yourself, it's clearly only hurting you.

Just think of TLG as something that is TLK related, but in the end, as its own separate entity.

You don't have to like absolutely everything just because someone slapped a TLK logo onto it. Even in the 1990s when they released the first movie, it was also paired up with some rather atrocious merchandising. For that matter, who ever at Disney decided to hire Westwood (the guys behind Command and Conquer) to make the TLK game has to be given some sort of award, because even back then movie tie-in video games already had a reputation for being horrible, rushed money grabs. ET for the Atari 2600 anyone?

The video game that was released ended being great, if too much on the hard side, but that is much better than can be said for a lot of other TLK stuff that came out even then, when TLK was the big deal with Disney, and not today when it it just another weapon in the arsenal of money making.

So think of The Lion Guard as yet another piece of merchandise, even if it is a more elaborate, higher-quality produced merchandise, and frankly, I won't be surprised if the show isn't being made with exactly that mindset. Disney isn't creating the show because they love The Lion King, they are making it because they can smell big $$$ from a mile away. And since it's cheaper to make TLG look similar, but not quite like the movies, they are going with the clearly 3D CGI made-to-look-like 2D animation because it's cheaper for them to do so, and frankly, I am also wondering if Dinsey even knows how to make a 2D movie anymore, considering that department was closed down years ago.

TLG looks the way it does because it's at a "good enough" stage. Making it look more like the movie at this point would eat too much into profits as far as Disney is concerned.

Plus, at the end of the day, just remember: Unless you're 6, you're not supposed to be watching the show anyways. :P

I somehow doubt that people posting on a website dedicated towards a franchise that was always G rated (which was a step below PG, well below pg13 or R.) really gives a damn if they're watching a show whose primary audience is young kids.

Sure, you'd get strange looks from other people if you told em you were watching this show but you'd probably get strange looks from people for mentioning whatever you enjoy that isn't considered 'high art'.

Don't get me started on book snobs who hate genre fiction (sci fi, fantasy, etc) or people who hate any movie that isn't done on a 25 dollar budget.

There are a lot of things deemed by people you shouldn't enjoy at an older age. Those people are (insert words that would get me banned here).

The fact that TLG is on Disney Junior mildly concerns me, but if something ends up being quality programming, who cares what channel it's on?

TLK has always been kid-friendly.

I want to watch tlg. Most of my complaints are super nitpicky and not really worth mentioning. I think simba could look better but I don't think his design is that bad. I kinda like rob lowes take on the character.

My only real concern are the musical numbers. The musical number from the d23 trailer screamed '20 second filler song'. Still better than the songs from tlk1.5 tho. That movies soundtrack was superbland.

It's funny because while tlk1 has the best music of the franchise, tlk2 sp had pretty good music for a disney direct to video sequel. Usually the disney dtv sequels have been mostly blah and bland musically.

I think the designs of the "classic" characters actually look quite good and accurate.

The weirdest and most off-putting looking ones are the new side characters (I assume Kion's friends). They look like they're from a completely different show.
