As I have stated in other threads, I am less that thrilled about Kiara being a cub in The Lion Guard, but as others have stated. Nothing of what we currently know changes The canon identity of the cub presented at the end of The Lion King. We as fans are supposed to accept that within the canon of The Lion King universe it is Kiara. The big question is that if Kion is Kiara's littermate (As it seems to me that he could be) where was he (supposedly) during Lion King 2. To that end I have come up with this (Hopefully Amusing):
FAN THEORY: O.K. we know that in Lion King 2 Nuka states that The Hyenas ran off, but maybe the reason that they ran off is because The Lion Guard chased them...and kept chasing them...all the way across Africa...A chase that lasts all through Lion King 2. Now why isn't Kion or the Lion Guard mentioned in Lion King 2? Well before beginning the epic chase, Kion used The Roar of the Elders to erase the knowledge of his and The Lion Guard's existence from the minds of everyone in The Pride Lands and The Outlands. In order to spare Family and friends the pain of missing them. While keeping their non-hyena enemies from doing anything to prevent The Lion Guard from returning to The Pride Lands when their mission is complete. END OF FAN THEORY
