My guess is that they wanted the Lasedrisc version to become a collector's item of sorts (which it arguable has), hence leaving some of the bonus content only on the laser disc version. Also when a new version of a film comes out in a new format, the bonus material is usually exclusive to that format.
This goes down a whole other complicated route, involving licensing and legal issues but it's more or less why you won't see content from the laserdisc version on another format (besides the youtube rips etc).
The same can be said about the Blu Ray release of the Diamond Edition, odds are it will have bonus content (such as the rumoured 3D version of the film perhaps), which will not be aceesible on any other format, even in the future Sony will still essentialy "own" that piece of content.
