Sarafinas name means "Bright Star" in Swahili. How ironic considering her minimal performance.
wrong, her name doesn't mean bright star, and it isn't Swahili either. Brian got that mis-information from somewhere when he made www.lionking.org, I e-mailed him about it once.

Sarafina means "burning one" or "serpent" in Russian, Italian, Polish, and Latin. I've looked up all the characters' names myself to put on my own TLK website. if you want to see them all, just go to the FAQ page.

Haha, my great-great-drandmother was named Serafina or Serafiina, says my grandma. If I once get a daughter, Serafina/Sarafina would be great as the third name... :)

I wonder why they gave Sarafina such a name. What do the African lions have to do with Russia or Italy..? And they already had a lioness who's name started with "Sara" - Sarabi.

Ed and Banzai aren't African either. Ed is English I believe. and I have no idea about Banzai, but it's not Swahili as many believe.

I think Sarafina was somewhat adventurous as a cub, so "burning one" suits her as far as I'm concerned.

Ed was an interesting choise for his name. In the Swedish version, his name is Flin - no idea why! :o
Banzai sounds funny but I wish they gave him a name that meant something in Swahili or Zulu... By the way, does Zazu have a meaning?

Yeah, who knows? Anyway, in my opinion, Sarafina is one of the most beautiful names in TLK.

Yeah. Disney should pay more attention at those. She didn't even appear at Pride Rock when Simba became king! (Now that I think of it, where's Sarafina and Sarabi at the presentation at the end of TLK?)
