Kovu

I think I can enlighten you a bit Vixey. Let me ask you just one question, and I think you'll understand why Kovu's life was so difficult.

Would you enjoy learning that you were raised your entire childhood in a lie?

Now, Kovu doesn't discover that he was living a lie until Simba talked with him in the charred hills, and yes, his cubhood was probably pretty fun from time to time. Play fighting with Vitani and running away from Nuka. Sounds like good fun to me. But at that moment with Simba, Kovu finally realized the lie he had been living.
I seriously hate to cause any wars or arguements among fans of characters, but my opinion on Kovu's life is not so bad. If you really think about it, he was born and raised with the Outlanders, but he had an amount of fun because when Vitani challenged to fight him he readily accepted. As he grew older, he was merely brought up with hatred in his heart. I didn't really find anything significant that happened that totally awe-struck me. Sure, his mother probably didn't love him as much as he might have wished, but Zira loved to cub to an extent. (Even if it were to raise him to be heir to the throne, she realizes that she has to obey Kovu's laws if she thrones him)

No, I'm not trying to justify Simba, I'm just saying that in my opinion Kovu didn't lead such a hard life. Now, if I'm utterly missing the point, please enlighten me. I've read so much about the significance of Kovu's background, yet I still don't see the reason.

Sorry if I offended any Kovu fans out there. I'm not saying I don't like him at all. In a matter of fact, he's one of my favorite Lion King characters; I just don't really get it, lol.
I agree. Yes, he had a hard life, but I don't think he was in such a bad state as people make him out to be. Thats also why I don't like fan fica that make Kovu turn bad after becoming king. To me, his life wasn't that bad, too.

No, indeed I would not. But still, it wouldn't seem like much of a lie depending on Zira's intentions. If perhaps she herself believed a lie that was told to her about Scar (Unlikely), she would have no knowing it was wrong and believed in it with her whole heart; thus telling Kovu all she knew. I can understand that he could have emotions through his heart about how he is torn, though.

Lol, I'm glad I'm not the only one. :nehneh:

Well, everyone has different perspectives. I can't change your mind, as you can't change mine. Besides Simba, I think Kovu's past is just as, if not more, dark. And that in turn leads Kovu to become a very impressive hero.

Me too. Eventhough I didn`t like SP much when I watched it for the very first time, I instantly fell in love with Kovu.

Hm, it would seem that my friends have become somewhat muddled as to what was Kovu's problem. His entire life has been raised with the view that Scar was a hero and Simba was a brutish fiend. His mother would have him slay the hero of the first movie and become king himself. He is not completely fooled, however, and sees that there is something wrong with his mother's story. His youthful years are spent fighting himself in hopes of resolving his internal strife. This war is accompanied by the conflict of his Pride against the Pridelanders, not an easy fact to swallow.
