Why not TPAM?? Ö
Well, here it goes... (please, don't shoot me!)
- Crappy animation (it's not
that bad, but it's not that good at all)
- The old characters don't act and look like themselves
- Music is fine but not fantastic ("He Lives In You", "Love Will Find a Way" and "We Are One" are very good, "One Of Us" is good, "My Lullaby" is average and "Upendi" is horrible)
- The underscore is weak.
- Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, Zazu are all completly useless. Timon and Pumbaa have a few unfunny and awkward lines, Nala acts like a Stepford Wife, just sits in the background and is there to console Simba, Rafiki acted like a monkey version of
Professor Bambo.
- Simba is
completly out of character. I know some of you may say "Oh he's just trying to protect his daughter..." but he is way too over the top and since we got no real background of Zira's story and what's really behind all that situation, I can't relate to that. And really? He needs to send Timon and Pumbaa following Kiara every second of the day? Pathetic. If you are that worried, take care of her yourself OR, I don't know, her own
mother can do it...
- Adult Kiara is too much of a Mary Sue for my taste. I don't get it: she falls in love with a guy in a day, her father is attacked, is wounded, the guy she loves is presumably guilty and she stays on his side? Wow, what a daughter... Heck, even Nala seemed pretty upset about that. What a wife! I feel she is the same spoiled little girl from the beginning to the end and she ends up good, she gets what she wants: her boyfriend. I don't mind cub Kiara, she's adorable.
- No backstory for many of the events and relations between the characters.
- It tries too hard to be the first one: "Ew, gross!", baby presentation, Kiara gets in trouble, Simba teaches her a lesson, there's a fire, a stampede, a fight at the end, watching the stars, "Love Will Find a Way" has some moments from "Can You Feel The Love Tonight", having a certain 'code' for remembering each other in the future, etc...
- I like Kovu and all but his sudden personality change is too rushed. He thinks one way all his life, then falls in love with a girl in one day, changes completly and betrays his family.
- It has some corny moments: "Upendi" (ugh!), Mufasa smiling in the sky and talking to Simba (it should be an epic once in a lifetime event and that's it, not a "grandpa is living in Florida" thing.)
- And the fact that SP's director claims this movie is as great as the first one. Really?
^^ IMHO
Please don't bash me.
I know the "falling in love in a day" applies to most of Disney movies but I'm not a Disney fan, per se. I love "The Lion King", like 3 or 4 more movies and that's it.
Oh if you want to know, this is Professor Bambo:

You don't want to meet this guy...
