I think when they named her Vitani, they didn't think there was a meaning in Swahili for it. It was going to be Shetani (meaning "demon"), but the creators thought that that would be demeaning to her... 'Cuz of the way it's pronounced, I guess.
But I don't think that Vitani is supposed to mean anything.
