His adult form is better than his cubbiness. Frankly, his cubby likability is limited by his cocky attitude and his carefree nature. Adult Simba is still carefree as he lives in the lap of Hakuna Matata. But eventually, he becomes the king he was born to be. Though we do not know what struggles Mufasa faced on his path to king, we can assume that it wasn't as painful as Simba's. To overcome the death of one who meant the world to you is quite admirable. Not to mention, his friends stand by his side til the end, as he will stand by them. Simba is the greatest character in the Lion King franchise. However, I reserve the right to claim Kovu as the greatest hero in Disney history.
I agree with this a bunch.
But I still think Simba as a cub was still very likable, because he was just a boy. Trying to impress a girl, trying to get into trouble, asking questions, and just feeling entitled like he's already a king. XD
That's normal boy stuff, and it's just a reflection of his happy life. What made Simba one of the best characters of all time is that we got to see him mature and grow up. He went from being a boy to the leonine ruler Mufasa would've wanted him to be.
But hey, that's just how I saw it.
