I have no idea why this never occured to me before, but Mufasa was simply an awesome father. He was gentle and patient to Simba when he was showing him his kingdom, he was strict but fair to him when he saved him from the hyenas, and he even gave his own life trying to save his son's! I don't know, I just watched the movie again and I noticed this.
Even after his death, he tried to teach Simba what he hadn't been able to teach him when he'd been alive, such as telling him that he needed to return to his kingdom, and helping him learn that "we are one". Mufasa rocks! :)

Aww, Mufasa! He is so great, definatly one of my favourite characters. He is so...majestic. A great king, full of wisdom, love and strength. Ahadi taught him well.

Ahh, the picture perfect dad. ^^ So kind, protective and caring. ^^ He's pretty much perfect in every aspect of the meaning. I suppose his only flaw would be that he's a bit too trusting, as we all know by now. he also knows how to make quite the entrance, even after death. lol.

I have a question.

I was watching the bonus stuff on the SP DVD yesterday. I noticed a brief clip of James Earl Jones (the voice of Mufasa) saying this line: "You have let your family break apart, and thus you have broken the Circle Of Life."

I seem to remember reading online (a long time ago) that an early idea for SP was to have Mufasas ghost visit Kiara and convince her that she and Kovu were the key to reunite the two prides. I might be mistaken, not everything you read online is true. ;) But has anyone else heard anything like this?

I've always liked Mufasa when I first seen him in the beginning of the film. He has that powerful appearance that just draws you in. He's a true king at heart and the voice actor who filled in the role, James Earl Jones done a superb job capturing Mufasa's personality. lol. :) Mufasa's voice even sounds so powerful, kinda ironic huh? He's also the perfect dad as well, seeing how he wants what's best for Simba when he was growing up. ^^ Even after his death, Mufasa still watches over Simba and his Pride. Now that's a dad you want to have. ^^

I don’t remember where I read it. If you watch the "proud of Simba’s Pride" featurette though, you can see/hear James Earl Jones recording that line.

Yes, Mufasa is amazing! I'm sad he wasn't around the whole movie, because it would have been great to see him interact with an adult Simba and then later, Kiara! However, the brief time he was around, he definitely defined the themes of the movie about responsibility and a father's love. He was so powerful and responsible, yet had a soft spot for his friends and family. I don't know about Simba, but to me, a father saying he was "disappointed" in me would be the perfect punishment! oooh Mufasa gives me chills like Shenzi haha ;) Love him!
