Wasn't there anyway to take the kingship without killing Mufasa? (like keep him prisoner or overthrow and banish him)

Scurvy, hm? Might be a problem, since all I eat is meat.

There was no other way, unfortunately. I couldn't keep him as a prisoner anywhere. Someone might let him out. I'm certain I could not succeed in overthrowing him in direct combat; he's got the lion's share of the brawn. I had him in a good spot at the gorge, better than I had planned, so it worked out good in the end.

At what point did you think your kingship was threatened?

The moment when Simba jumped up from the ledge of Pride Rock onto me. I was certain he couldn't do such a task, apparently he was stronger than his father. I knew if Simba was on his feet, no lion or hyena could fight him. My intent was to take him out of play before the fight broke out. It was my mistake to tell him the truth about his father.

So you would recommend against telling the truth about the murder of a prominant figure during a fight to the death when you have the upper hand?
