Confused about He Lives In You

I'm a bit confused about this song. The Original Broadcast sang it for their CD, that was in the mid 90's right? 1994/1995. But then in 1998 Simba's Pride comes out with the same song. This means that He Lives In You originated from the Broadway Show, but I always thought it originated from Simba's Pride. Also, the lyrics are somewhat different between the two versions. So where did this song come from?

Well the original CD "Rhythm of the Pride Lands" came out in Febuary 28, 1995 by Walt Disney. It was not meant for TLK: SP at all, in the beginning at least. It was music inspired by the first Lion King Soundtrack from the african composer Lebo M. I dont know if that answers your question moka. XD

actually, i read some little known facts about TLK...
This song was actually supposed to be sung by Mufasa to Simba as They Live In you while he tells Simba about the Great Kings of the past But it got cut because James Earl Jones' voice didn't quite match the song's pitch
But it was added to the broadway version.

yes, TLKoB used songs from Rhythm of the Pridelands including "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", "One by One", and "He Lives in You" and its revamp "They Live in You" as well as the instramentals from some songs with different lyrics. "Endless Night" is written to the music of "Lala" and "Shadowland" to the music of "Lea Halalela".

I personally think that they loved the song "He Lives in You" and decided to incorporate it into TLK2:SP, which they did very fittingly.

oh, and the original TLKoB cast recording was in 1997, and Rhythm of the Pridelands in 1995.

1997, okay. Thanks that really clears things up. At first I thought the song was strictly for Simba's Pride, but now it seems like it's all over the TLK universe!

Is it originally written for TLK or was it an re-arrange excisting song? Because it sound kinda religious to me. I always thought it was a christian song used for the movie/musical.

you can use it as a religious song, my cousins' church does. but in TLK it was intended be Mufasa living on in Simba and Kiara.

"He Lives in You" and other songs were inspired by TLK. Lebo M had so much inspiration that he recorded more than what they needed for the movie. Disney thought it was great stuff and they didn't want it to just be forgotten cause it wasn't going into the movie, so they put those songs out on a separate album the following year. if you have the TLK SE DVD, insert disk 2 and click the Music icon and Play Journey. it should mention this at some point.

there are Christian songs in TLK. "Noyana" in particular is very so.

Yeah, I found all of them out by Youtube. Rythm of the Pride Lands has all of the un-used songs on it. And there's another TLK-related cd, which I forgot the name of.
I know the "he" in this song is Mufasa, but you can indeed also use it to be God
