For some reason, I feel this thread is similar to this one:
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=23747Anyway, I would have liked to see...
1. A detailed backstory of Zira and the Outsiders
2. Kovu's conversion to good written more realistically. In the movie, he changed to the good side way too quickly. Realistically, it would take a few days to a couple of weeks for someone to change one view's of another world when all their life he's seen it as wrong, and struggle with their identity.
3. Kovu try to help Simba save Kiara. In the movie, Kovu says to his mother, "I will never let you hurt Kiara, nor Simba. Not while I'm here." But, when Zira tackles Kiara and rolld down the gorge, Kovu does nothing to back up his words, and lets Simba do all the work. Also, I would have mirrored the sequence to Simba's nightmare. In the nightmare, Simba tries to save Mufasa from death on the gorge while Kovu/Scar grabs his paw preventing him from doing so. In the sequence, Simba tries to save Kiara from death, but let's say Simba's paw slips, but Kovu grabs it saying "Trust me!" Then, it all ends with Simba's paw securing Kiara's paw saving her (similar to the brief scene of Simba's paw trying to reach for Mufasa's) after Zira dies.
5. Simba's story of struggling to live up to his father's legacy connect with the romance story between Kovu and Kiara a subplot so we have an equal balance of the new and original characters
6. Nala play an important role in the movie.
7. The original character's design and personalities not tampered with
8. the "Upendi" scene removed, and replaced with a less cheesier, campier handling of Kovu and Kiara's love story starting to take fold
9. Zira's suicide and Nuka's deleted extended dying scene returned back into the original film
