Why didn't Rafiki say something?

So we know that Rafiki is a trusted friend of the royal family because he plays a key role in the presentation ceremony for new cubs and was instrumental in convincing Simba to return to the Pridelands. Also, he seems to perform Kiara and Kovu's "wedding" at the end of SP.

We also see him receive sort of a divine revelation from Mufasa that Kiara and Kovu getting together is the answer to the impending crisis. My question is why didn't he tell anyone? It is understanable that he wouldn't tell Kiara and Kovu directly since those who feel pressured to fall in love rarely do, but why would he not tell Simba, especially when he was bordeline obsessed with living up to his father's legacy? Such a conversation seems like it could have saved a lot of unnecessary trouble.

I assume Rafiki didn't tell Simba because Rafiki must have knew Simba hated Zira and the Outsiders, and wouldn't allow his daughter to be romantically involved with the heir of his father's murderer.

So, he turned to transporting Kovu and Kiara into the "Upendi" paradise, hoping it make the two fall in love with each other.

Because everyone needed to learn some lessons. Especially Simba. Mufasa could have told Simba himself as well, but again, Simba needed to learn things slowly and hard, and he needed to learn to trust his daughter. Kiara wouldn't have gotten her chance of showing her wisdom if the monkey got too involved, and besides, he also thought that Mufasa was a little crazy for suggesting the two young lions from two very different paths of life get together. And overall, it would have may for a fairly boring story.

This. A thousand times over. Yup, this basically sums it up.

I mean, it just wouldn't have been right for Rafiki to throw himself into the middle of things, really. He did what he could, in "transporting" Kiara and Kovu to Upendi, but that was about it. It just wouldn't have been fair for anyone involved in the situation...Kiara would have just been mistrusted again by Simba if they hadn't gone through all of that. They'd be back at the beginning.

Well if Simba was told by Rafiki the plan of Mufasa, you would not have such a complicated plot, it probably would be much more predictable, and also less interesting.

Another thing to consider in addition to the fine points that have already been made, is that if Rafiki had reported all the things Mufasa had said needed to happen. He would have run the risk of turning Simba into a puppet ruler. If Simba knew that Rafiki could communicate that easily with Mufasa he may have run to Rafiki any time he had to make a single decision.

That is very true, I didn't actually think about that.

I wouldn't want the emphasis of the film to be on how Simba would rely heavily on Mufasa's guidance still. I like that he needs it at times, and that the connection is still there, but overall it's so nice to seem him go on and blossom and try, albeit skeptically, to make the correct decisions without anyone to really guide him any longer (aside from Nala's advice, I'm sure).
