Age Differences - Kovu and Kiara

Do you guys remember the scene where Zira informs Simba, "Kovu was the last born, until you exiled us to the Outlands..where we have little food and less water?" If Kovu was born far before the Pridelands became replenished with new life after Simba's defeat of Scar, wouldn't he appear as much older cub than Kiara in Simba's Pride? Or do you think Zira was just exaggerating? It may be a silly question, but I was just curious as to what everyone's theory is on that subject.

There could be many explanations in this theory,mine would be that when Zira had Kovu,they were still in the Pridelands,but after some wrong doing with Zira and other lions and lionesses,then they got exiled. At the same time Nala was pregnant with Kiara,maybe like a couple of days later or a week,who knows for sure when she had Kiara.

I always thought that Zira became pregnant with Kovu just before Simba took over the Pridelands. I thought that maybe because he didn't like Nuka, Scar might have said something like "If you have a boy make him my heir" or something like that?
I thought that Nala probably became pregnant quite soon after so Kiara and Kovu haven't got that much of an age difference.

Both ideas make sense! Yeah, I was just about to question how Kovu and Kiara could be so close in age if Scar was still alive to have Kovu "handpicked" as his heir. I guess the only plausible theory would be that Scar, like aloobah said, told Zira to make her next male cub his King? How could he have really "handpicked" Kovu? :o

Nuka was the first cub being born by Scar,after his death Zira probably mated a rogue or a secret male that we don't know about,then had Vitani at one time then Kovu last or at the same time,then maybe a week or month later Kiara came in. That would make them grow nearly the same height,age all that. But If Scar hand chosen Kovu before his death,while Nala had no belly for Kiara,then by the time that Simba exiled the lions and lionesses to the Outlands Kovu would have been a teen lion as he would be growing a mane by the time he met Kiara.

It could also be that Zira picked a heir for Scar after he died. She is already so delusional and schizophrenic that it won't be out of character for Zira to hear Scar talking to her when he can't be. Or she might be aware that he is not there anymore, but still acts like it. This, at least, is what I always imagined. That Zira picked for Scar with Scar's "blessings".

I always Though that Zira was lying, when she told Simba about Kovu's Back Story. (DGFone's theory about Zira hearing (or at least thinking she hears Scar's voice) makes perfect sense to me, as well as filling some holes in my theory). I think it is possible that Zira may have waited a short time to see what kind of lion Nuka would grow into before she decided that he was an unworthy heir for Scar and chose to have another cub. I think Zira found whoever Vitani's father was while she was in the Outlands, when their union produced Vitani, Zira then (wanting a male heir for Scar) cub-napped a new born Kovu from another pride a very short time after Vitani's birth. Vitani and Kovu would have been nursed together and would be unaware that the are not related. This could also count (at least in part) for Nuka's jealousy toward Kovu, Nuka would have known the truth. Like aloobah said Zira could have been pregnant (although in my theory with Vitani) around the same time as Nala was pregnant with Kiara and the same could also be true of Kovu's true mother, Kovu and Kiara might have been born only days apart.

It's something suggested by... Akril or koraden, on TLKFAA, that Kovu is older than Kiara. His head tuft seems to be something for older cubs. Younger than adolescent Simba, but older than cub Simba.
