I already knew about the Kimba and Hamlet inspiration going on, but I didn't know TLK had similarities to other movies as well..

asides from the inspiration that TLK were base, the only thing that I knew and it was in that video is the similarity in the part of the marching hyenas from the scene "Be Prepared" compare to the marching of the solders army

Filmmakers copy each other all the time. People just like to bash Disney for some reason :P

*Nods*

It reminds me of Alpha and Omega. They obviously copied Lion King and Simba's Pride, but it still proves a cute movie. (:

Also, Madagascar Escape 2 Africa has some similarites to TLK1.

One of the most common ones is comparing Makunga and Scar because they both want power of their kingdom and their strategies of getting what they want are very alike. In ME2A, Makunga used Zuba's son, Alex, in order to try to gain his place as the alpha lion. Alex lost the right of passage because Makunga tricked him into thinking that it was mainly about dancing (which Alex has a talent for) but it was supposed to be mainly fighting. In TLK, Scar forms his plan of killing Mufasa, along with Simba too, in the wilderbeast stampede. When Scar kills Mufasa and he dies, Scar tricks Simba into thinking that he was the one who caused his father's death and Scar exiles him away from the Pridelands. Scar gains his place as the king of Pride Rock.

Another similarity between the two movies is that their lands are in a natural situation. In TLK, since Scar makes a bad king, the Pridelands have no food, water and everything's dried out. This is what Nala told Simba when they reunited as adults. In ME2A, their waterhole is dried out and need a way to retrive the water back.

Also, one more similarity: Finding out who you are. In TLK, as Simba was growing up into an adult, he forgot who he was until Mufasa's ghost spoke to him and told him that he needs to go back to Pride Rock and reclaim himself as the one true king. At the end, Simba fights Scar for his home and he owns the throne. In ME2A, Zuba got mad at Alex because he felt that he wasn't acting like a "real lion". This is what Alex is trying to look for in himself. At the end, Alex gets back on Makunga and he and his father, Zuba, claim their place as the alpha lions.

These are the most common similarities I see in ME2A that it has with TLK1. I like Madagascar but TLK is 10 times better, as so much for my #1 favorite film ever and obsession. :)
