That's because they were planning for her to commit suicide and that scene was entirely animated (it's the scene we have today) but the dialogue was changed. At least that was what I read on a interview with Brian Tiemann (the guy from lionking.org).

I don't think Zira wanted to be saved. If she was saved she would have been all alone. She would have been defeated. So I think that for her being saved just wasn't an option.
