Did Simba and Nala *liked* each other as cubs?

I think they probably did a have crush, but just didn't realise it or realise what their feelings meant. They were probably too young to fully understand romance back then. I thought it was gross at their age too. XD

I don't think it's unlikely or farfetched; it's not unusual for kids that are close friends to have crushes on one another, after all. I know a lot of others here said that Nala seemed to be the one who had the crush mostly, but I always thought it was Simba! I think both of them might've had a tiny crush, but I always thought it was more on Simba's side than Nala's. Though considering that this Disney movie is so targeted to little boys (psh), it'd probably be mainly on Nala's side.

Regardless, I do think it's a possibility.

Oops, forgot to add: I agree that they might've had crushes but not even understood it themselves! I doubt they really realized it at all, if they did crush on each other.

My thoughts aren't that different from many others that have already been posted. I think they probably did "like" each other, even it they didn't fully realize it until they missed each other later.

To eloborate on what Regulus said, Nala gives the same impression with the way she tells Simba, "You don't know how much this will mean to everyone; what it means to me". It seems they had both thought quite a bit about each other even before they met again.

^This. Cub Simba and Nala were too young to understand the feeling of love, and for reference to support this statement: their grossed-out reaction to Simba's betrothment to Nala. So, they "liked" each other as close friends.

Of course they liked each other,they just couldn't grasp the concept of liking someone in a romantic ways,as they were too young. Hence the obvious disgust upon Zazu's statement of how they future will look like,hehe. So,yes,they liked each other and it was bound to grow into something more,especially since they were apart for that long. Seeing each other after such a long time must have brought up lots of emotions and apparently, love...

I think they did. Kids are usually quick to deny it when they "like" each other.

I have been wondering this myself. I was particularly looking at this scene. Simba is looking directly at Nala, and it seems like he is looking at Nala to see how much she is enjoying their time together during this song while Nala is looking away. Likewise Nala in this scene seems to be doing the same as Simba looks away. Moreover, I think they did have a crush on each other, but it more-less wasn't know to them. Like they psychologically on a deep level seemed to like each other very much, but of course they were so young that they didn't really grasp the concept of love. Clearly though as they got older they then found that emotion they had and really could understand it at that point. So yes I think they did like each other, but being that young they just didn't think so with their young minds.
