I know that this has nothing to do with SP but it is still relevant, and I don't think it's important enough to warrant a new topic.
Anyway, while I was watching TLK in 3D last week, one of the minuscule details I noticed in the animation that I'd never seen before was this:
Image
If you didn't catch it, look closely at Simba's eyes. Are those tears again? :(
So you're maybe wondering, so what? lol. I don't know xD but it struck me that the addition of this tiny detail really added so much to the scene, whether it was intentional or not. And the fact that Simba cries both times he sees his dead father (in the clouds scene, and again in his dream in SP) is really heartbreaking. It's proof that even after so many years, the little cub in him is still hurting.

Well, this is the first time he saw Mufasa in years apart from in nightmares. It's only understandable that Simba would be overcome with emotion. Also keep in mind that he is talking to Mufasa, who Simba still thinks that he murdered at this point.

Two amazing finds Amanda. I would never have caught that in either scene and it does make each scene more emotionally powerful.

Great find, poor Simba, I don't know what I'd do if I lost anyone like that.

I noticed this before, although I didn't think much of it. In the scene just before this one Simba's eyes were white, so I don't think such a miniscule detail was intended to carry such significance.

I didn't think much of it either. I actually thought he was just tearing because the beam of light was shooting directly at his eyes.

For the SP find, well that's something completely different. Also, has my heart grown so cold I don't really care?

Imagine it, though.
You see your own dad die, and you found out who did it.

If you saw your dad again in a dream, you wouldn't want to see him die again, you would want to be happy with him, even if it was a dream.
It's no surprise he is crying, he doesn't want to experience it again.
I know when I dream, it feels real, until you wake up and realize that it was just a dream.

It's re-experiencing a tragic event. Not pleasant. =[
I agree though, it does add more emotional affect to the scene.

I have to say, I do think it carries a certain significance. As a Disney movie, I don't think they'd throw that in if it wasn't supposed to be him being upset about Mufasa's death - and I imagine that, him reliving easily one of the most tragic moments in his life, it wouldn't be abnormal for him to be tearing up. I imagine that he's probably had that nightmare a lot, too; just with the exclusion of Kovu's part in his nightmare. -nods-

I do feel bad for Simba. I can relate to him, dreaming of something that hurts like that.
