Lion King for adults-Some observations from the Cat

Even as an adult, I didn't really give that scene a second thought until somebody mentioned it on here. After that, I wondered how it didn't register with me for so long. Still, I don't think it's really a big deal since it's non-graphic and kids probable won't get it in the first place.

Disney is family company. They wouldn't put anything that won't be apprpriate for kids. If they did then parents would be disgusted, and wouldn't buy their merchandise. The Lion King is a true classic, and with every classic, people try to find something to complain. For example: People's controversial arguement with Simba's dust cloud containing an offensive word. I didn't post it due to the fact kids may use this sight. Whether it has something to do with the characters way of expressing themselves, or the artwork, even the music. People would look for something to complain because they would rather ruin the reputation of the movie and/or company than to ignore it as most people would.

^No one said anything about 'ruining' the film. Just because not everyone sees it as a perfect film does not mean fans cannot dissect it. You can still love something and still 'critique' it.

It actually says SFX, not sex, and it's only in one frame. It's really more of a misinterpretation than anything, and very hard to notice, at that.

I still find it ironic that The Lion King got burned for 'SFX", nothing more than the special effects team having a bit of fun, while nobody batted an eye at Nala's look that she gave to Simba.

Like Regulus said: the SFX frame is very hard to see, and in fact was only discovered after the Laser Disc version was released, and people were able to watch every single frame. Why 1 frame in a 129600 frame movie made such a big deal is beyond me.

Well, that's how some people think, I guess. Never mind the fact that if you don't know what 'sex' means, then it is nothing more than a 3 letter word in the sky. And if you do know what it means, well then you're probably mature enough not to take it seriously.

And what I really don't understand is why anyone cares about any of this compared to the rest of the movie. You know, the part where Scar kills his brother, tries to kill his nephew, and ends up burning to death later on. But how many parents actually care about violence when there's sexual things to worry about?

To be honest I never saw Nala's "look" as her trying to entice Simba into anything. I saw the entire can you feel the love tonight sequence as being romantic, keep in mind when Nala gave Simba "The Look" she had just Kissed him, and while it was a very clear message that Nala wanted to become more that friends. Nala was waiting to see how Simba would react to this proposed change in their relationship. I think her "Look" says more: "Well what do you think of being my boyfriend?" rather than "I want to have your cubs."
