Was Zira mentally unstable to begin with?

I don't think that it's a simple scenario. Yes, Scar's death is probably what pushed her over the edge completely. However, for her to idolize a figure as obviously evil and oppressive as Scar seems to indicate that she probably wasn't completely sane even by the time she found him. Whether she was born that way or slowly lost her grip on reality due to a difficult cubhood or what not is purely a matter of speculation.

I kid of course, one thing i love about these forums is our unified passion for TLK and the indepth study we all take in its characters and history...that being said!!!! Zira Rocks! I wish i was a Mother to know the true glory of my female blood, but she was a Mother of three with her back to the wall, she starved herself so her young (yes all your Zira haters, that INCLUDES Nuka) could eat, grow and become strong. She may be "unstable in the head" but she is a Mother damnit, respect her for that, in the end, all we get from the end of TLK2 is the death of a Mother. Find me something more horrible then that and I will show you the end of time.

I just want to add, saraba(nalas mother) set zira up with kulivle, hoping that zira was good. She was very pretty, then she was banished to the Outlands for killing Kopa.
