Was Scar really THAT bad?

Scar wasn't the best king as we saw...The Pridelands got turned around. But I think that was mostly the hyena's fault. They trashed the place and made it look like the graveyard. Maybe if he hadn't invited the hyenas, the Pridelands would've looked like they should have.

True, but I think a lot of that is symbolic. With the evil king comes decay and times of despair, but with the return of the good, true king the land becomes lush once more.

I don't think Scar was PURE evil. He was just bummed out about being younger than Mufasa, and not being able to be King, which is why he killed Mufasa, and got rid of Simba for a while.

If we're talking real lions, Scar isn't evil...he's just being a lion, it's what they do! If he was real he'd have killed Simba, Nala, all the comic cubs, and probably the hyena's while he was at it! (Although, if it was real, I think Mufasa would have kicked Scars @$$ haha)

But as far as anthropomorphism goes, Scar was evil and shouldn't have done what he did.

Yeah..I was watching a documentary on lions on Animal Planet. There was a pride where one of the older lionesses was killing the younger lionesses' cubs. They're not exactly friendly characters in the real world O.o Then again, all animals (and plants) fight for resources, territory, etc. That's just the nature of things and the will to survive that drives them.
