I think Nala made it up herself. And I think she's smarter than Simba is although when they fought as adults (or young adults i guess) she was smarter and had more experience since Simba was eating bugs while she was hunting.

I think Nala invented the move, but I love the idea of Sarafina teaching her how to do it.

It is highly likely that Nala invented the move, given her intelligence. However if the move was taught to her, I think Sarafina must have been the one to teach it.

I love that move Nala does :3 I wonder if Kiara ever used it on Kovu...?

She does, or at least a similar move. After Love Will Find A Way when Kovu runs away laughing, Kiara tackles him, they roll over and she pins him. to which Kovu responds with a very surprised "Hey!" Kiara does not pin Kovu as forcefully as Nala pins Simba, but she does pin him. Kovu then kisses her.

Nala seemed to be a bit more forceful in general when it came to Simba. Kiara just seemed to be more sweet, so it's possible it could be the same move, just applied with Kiara's personality.
