The only Disney films in which I have seen blood (that I can think of right now) is little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. In Bolt, he mentiones that his paw is bleeding, but no blood is actually shown. Disney is scared of blood.
Mufasas death is essential to the movie, and it is this incident and the relastionship between father and son which stands at the centre of the TLK story.
