I don’t think I’ve ever noticed that before, it’s a nice find. It happens so quickly when Scar lounges at Mufasa and hooks his paws, so I’ve never realized something so tiny..
The other places in TLK where they show blood are more obvious, but they’re just scratches after all, not huge gaping wounds showing the bone underneath. It makes the movie feel more autentic, like you said, and I’m certain even wimpy kids can handle that.
