Well, I was going for brevity, but I guess I needed to be unnecessarily wordy. Love just happens between two beings who know each other. You know one another, you have a tight bond, and things go from there. I mean, all things aside, it's really not that far-fetched that it would happen between them. I've seen it happen all the time. Two friends of mine knew each other for like two days and got together, and they're still going strong years later. My parents? Fell in love in like a day, haha. Not joking at all there, that seriously happened.

We are not ones to say that someone should or should not be in love or to scrutinize whether or not it happened too fast or too slow. That's not our liberty. Sometimes love is just the resulting solution. There doesn't need to be much logical basis behind it. It's just love. Let 'em do as they please.

I think that sentence somewhat contradicts your main point. If love "just happens", then it can't start from a "tight bond" and then "go from there".

Even in the situations you described, the real "love" itself didn't necessarily happen straight away. They developed a tight bond, as you called it, and realized that they could possibly become something more. So they took a chance, and their love ended up developing over the time they spent with one another. That's not exactly, just happening.

I'm not sure whether that was directed at me or not, but I was simply providing a flaw in something that YFWE said. He declared that love is something that can "just happen". He then went on to say that love starts as a "tight bond" between two people, which then progresses into love.

The two statements are contradictory, which is all I was saying.

Maybe not in RL, (and that is not what we’re really discussing here) but Disney has a long tradition for going for "love at first sight," and generally focusing on love and romance in their movies. The heroes always have a love-intrest. In TLK’s case, it was convenient to make the hero (Simbas) childhood friend his love-intrest and Queen. They had already built a very strong bond as cubs, and after meeting eachother again after spending so much time apart.. that bond just grew deeper.

I agree it seems quite rushed, but it’s a movie (for kids) and Disney needs to keep it moving. They simply didn’t have time to make a lengthy sequence where Simba and Nala could slowly develop feelings for eachother.. Plus, Nala was part in helping Simba realize he had to face his past and go back to the Pridelands. This was a rather pressing matter that needed to be dealt with as soon as possible. Disney just made Simba and Nala fall in love first, so Simba could take Nala as his Queen when he returned to claim the throne. (And besides, they were engaged from cubhood anyway, lol)

Anyway, I don’t think the question is "why did they fall in love," but rather: "why not?"
